I payed Proshoppers some thirty odd dollars after reading an add they placed in the paper; the man on the phone claimed it was an "investment." I knew it might be a ripoff when I did it, but I figured, "why not take a chance?"
Well, about a week after paying them, they started putting two weekly charges for twenty to thirty dollars on my bank account. I called and asked them why; they said it was for "web services."
I asked them to cease billing me, they said they would. I asked for a refund, they denied me. The next day, my account was billed >again.<
I highly doubt that what they are doing is legal.

NO charge to become a Mystery Shopper!

That is correct. NO legitimate Market Research companies in America specializing in Mystery Shopping charge anyone at anytime, who would like to become a mystery shopper. That includes, but is not limited to charges for Mystery Shopping company directories, mailing lists, training materials, contacts, etc.
Anyone who would like to enter the field of Mystery Shopping and avoid the con artists and scamsters, need only go to: www.mysteryshop.org to locate legitimate companies recruiting in their area. BEWARE: Anytime someone wants to charge for ANYTHING related to Mystery Shopping, simply cease communications.

I am a registered Mystery Shopper and I paid a one time only fee and 6 years later they have never charged me again. They also did not tack on any fees for other services not requested.
