I purchased this 42"lcd from shop nbc because it came with a home in-service warranty. I paid $1800 for it, it worked great for the first 5 months.
During the 6th month an issue arose: you turn the thing on and 20 mins later,the entire screen turns green. Called Ca (but i think its india) 3 times..they walked me through about 35 mins of troubleshooting and then said it could not be fixed over the phone.
I said fine, send your technician in here. They said they did not offer that anymore. I said "the Limited Warranty which I have in my hand says you will come to my home". They said "Sorry we dont do that anymore.You will have to send it back to us and we will send you a new one". I said "send me a box then to put it in. its been 6 mos and I have disposed of the box not thinking I would need it this far down the line". They said "we dont do that" . I Said "send me a new one and I will use the box from that to have UPS pick it up from my door" You can hold my cc until you get the old one back". "We dont do that". they said.
So after a month, I finally dragged the darn thing to the UPS store with some help only to for UPS to tell me they will not ship back due to liability and that it can be shipped 3rd party for $500?? I am quite upset.
I am happy to sign up for a class action against them. The thing is undre warranty for heavens sake. They promised in-home service. I can understand not offering going forward on new boxes but not on existing items sold. How do they just get to change their name from Protron to Spectron and keep doing what they are doing???
