Let me tell you a little about my providian experience.

I had a providian card for about 2 years and one day I decided that I was going to try and get the interest rate lowered. I called customer no service and explained to the rep what I wanted and she laughed so hard that I thought she was going to fall out of her chair right there.

I asked what was so funny and she stated that she couldnt do anything like that and that the "company" decided what my interest rate was to be.
I cancled my card right then and there.

After 2 months went by and I didnt receive a statement I called customer no service and asked where my statements were so that I could pay my bill. The response was one of
total ignorance. It is not providans responsibility to make sure you paid your bill on time. I about died.

I asked for reprints of the statements and then waited another 4 months before I had gotten a bill from some company called Emerge.I called them and asked them what this was all about. They stated that Providian xfered my closed visa account to them and they in turn opened a mastercard account in my name.

I told emerge that they could not do it and the response from customer no service was " yes we can" and they hung up.Now they have a company called NCO Group calling my house and asking my girlfriend and my grandmother if they have any money to send in on this account.

I spend alot of time on the road now and I spazed when I got back to find out that emerge promotes such behavior from their collectors and 3rd party collectors. I think that not being able to contact anyone at emerge is sad.. and if you call providian and ask them if they are affiliated with emerge they say NONONONON.. but everyone at emerge says they are.

Run away from providian.. they are crooks and could care less about you as a card holder..

J's response regarding the customer service rep

AUTHOR: Dan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 25, 2004

J., the employee of Emerge, makes the statement to not take it out on the customer service rep. In business, the customer service rep is the spokesperson for that company, and their true responsibilty should be to find the solutions to the customer's dissatisfaction and do so in a polite and timely manner. That rep. is the company talking to the customer. Good relations and successful business are not built on sarcasm, mockery, nor denial. The customer has a problem that is upsetting them. The service rep's job is to assist in correcting that. If the rep doesn't care, then the company deserves whatever reputation and complaints are due. It would be wise for upper management to "ob" some of these calls and evaluate the service they are giving, so complaints like this do not happen. In this case, the customer is completely justified in filing such a complaint!

Names Names Names ..the all mighty dollar is more important.

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 17, 2004

I have been attempting to obtain names of someone who actually has the authority to do something at Emerge. I have never been able to find any information about the company, officers, corporate office or even phone numbers.

I personally am interested in the names and phone numbers of thoes in charge so that I can call and get a final answer from and not some flunky who has to check with their manager several times before they come back with a " well we cant do that" answer.

I'm sure that information will never be posted since thoes in charge do not want to be bothered with the trival issues of thoes of us that want to do the right thing.

My personal feeling is that the all mighty dollar is more important.

a question for the rep from emerge...

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 10, 2004

J-
You gave some good advice on how to handle a credit situation before it gets out of control... but you left one VERY important thing out... I have an Emerge account that is NOT currently in arrears nor has ever been delinquent... yet EVERYTIME I call there I get someone who does not speak a bit of English or very broken English (we all know who they are)... how do we handle that?? I can't ask a simple question or do a check by phone without becoming extremely frustrated, so I can't imagine how someone who has a credit issue would be able to handle that... that's something they should work on correcting....

Emerge Mastercard IS NOT PROVIDIAN

AUTHOR: J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 08, 2004

Listen,
This is what I have always wanted to say to everyone who was a providan (hearby referred to as PVN) that is now an Emerge customer:

1) It was providian who specified in the contact that we cannot be able to reopen certian accounts

2) Emerge is not providian. As some of you may have noticied, we are now id'ing ourselves on your caller id as compucredit. We have nothing to do with the bank that funds providian.

3) We have different programs at different times; this depends on the economy, level of delinquincy, and company policy changes... sometimes it depends on your current credit information.

**We are not all that bad. I will not say which department I work for with Emerge, but I can say this; some of take our jobs seriously and try hard to help the customers we call with the programs we have available. It is not right to take your frustration with the company and your current situation out on the agent you are speaking to. We are humans, just like you, and we do what we can to feed our families and pay our mortgage just like everybody else.

**one more thing... If you are in a situation that makes you feel like there is nothing you can do, call the company that is conerning you. More often than not, you will be able to reach someone who can help you.

still unable or refuses to show any documentation that they were authorized to open a closed account that was transfered from Providian

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 08, 2004

Emerge is still unable or refuses to show any documentation that they were authorized to open a closed account that was transfered from Providian.

To this day I still dont understand how a company can take a closed visa account and open the account as a Mastercard without issueing me any of the following

1) Notice of Purchase or Transfer
2) Document showing a signature showing I "Opened" a account with them
3) A Credit Card issued by them to me

Customer service doesnt exsist... nobody wants to talk to me about this and when it comes to questions specific to the account they cant answer them.
