Today's mail contained a plain, business sized envelope mailed from Toronto,Canada. Inside was what appeared to be a legitimate check drawn on Eagle Bank in Washington, D.C., for $4,875, purporting to be an initial payment of a $125,000 sweepstakes win. The Indian voice at the other end of the phone call instructed me to deposit the check and call them back right away. But a simple web search of "Prudent Securities, Inc" immediately brought up "Rip Off Report".
I knew it was too good to be true.
