I'm going to try and keep my post short but have to vent at how bad Pulte is.

Pulte Homes entered the Long Island market and quickly left. Sold their "plans" to Timber Ridge. (Another quality builder).

I had the opportunity to purchase a Pulte home in a development and thought, great, you keep hearing the CEO preaching about how they "do things correctly the first time" and "quality over profit is what counts."
Not so! I have found so many issues in my home its not even funny. Dont get me wrong, every house has issues, but this hous is only a few years old. Some minor, many not. Poor soldering on pipes, floors squeking badly, poor installation of cabinets, horrible sheetrocking/plastering, water leaks, etc. Talking to the neighbors I find that every house in the development has had some sort of issues.
Most recently, I find that all homes, yes every home has a water intrusion issue along the front facade and Timber Ridge is honoring the warranty to repair the water issue. (They are taking it up with Pulte)
I file my claim like other neighbors and they deny it saying I'm not the orginal owner. WTF, neither is half the development. Did I not squek loud enough?

So I send a letter to Pulte. No response. I send another letter to Pulte, now addressed to the CEO. Comes back with a response that they understand my frustatrations but are standing by the local Pulte Management. The end. WTF? Why was I denied. Still no answer.

So moral of my story is that Pulte is no better than any other builder that wants to throw up the huse as quick as possible and move on.

Everything Pulte CEO Richard J. Dugas Jr says about his company and their reputation is B.S.

They are an average builder at best with horrible customer service

I agree with the author about the comments.  While the design and look of the homes are good, the houses have areas of poor construction, workmanship, and materials.  All homes have exterior wood root and many have tried to cover them up with stop gap measures.   In fact, our front door entryway is literally melting away with wood rot and we are having Tri-State Windows and doors come out to give us an estimate to replace the whole thing as over the 6 and half years we have owned the home we have had Pulte come out twice to try to stop leaks with the door who's answer was caulk twice and I had it professionally painted and recaulked myself a 3 years ago but no measures will prevent from rotting and I have doubts (as I have seen water stains) as to whether the whole frame is leaking.   Additionally, I have had roof leaks and was told by a roofer that they did not properly seal roof vents and in areas did not use flashing.  I've also had plumbing leaks primarily from the lack of sealant and lack of tightening.  Which is a common theme in the house because I've had fixtures literally pull out fron the fall out in my hands because I apparently own better power tools than the contractors who built the home when faced with reattaching them.

While the fellow homeowner states that Timber Ridge (the builder/developer that took over and finished the homes to plans after Pulet abruptly pulled out of Lond Island), has been slow to respond, from what I can tell their repairs are much better, as our home was built by Pulte and while we had better customer service, all repairs were superficial at best.  Overall though, I am surprised the community has gone this long without a class action lawsuit to correct some of these deficits.

In the end, I guess what did we expect from a company that hires 20 something's out of college to manage the building of homes, had a customer service rep that came from an IT background, and allowed contractors to work on homes on weekends with no supervision.  In the end, Pulte is primairily a marketing company and spends a good portion of your money  on advertising, legal fees, corporate jet for CEO, and corporate retreats.
