Don't be fooled by Pure Weight Loss Centers or Family Weight Loss Centers! They are just a different division of LA Weight Loss. They are launching the PURE Brand and the Family Weight Loss Brand to cover up all the customer complaints and unethical business practices they have had nationwide.

20/20 uncovered LA Weight Loss by sending in undercover reporters to their centers. It was found that people wanting to lose 20 pounds were being chared over 2000 dollars. It was also found that none of their staff is medically trained and do not have nutrition classes.

Because of all this bad press everywhere, LA Weight Loss is trying to "trick" consumers by coming out with a new weight loss concept. Same concepts (sneaky concepts and tactics), just with a different name to trick consumers to still do business with them. Don't do it!

Pure Weight Loss Centers are located in Florida and Family Weight Loss Centers are in Washington State. LA Weight Loss Centers had many lawsuits in these area of the country. Again, don't fall for their underhanded tactics!

There are many dissatisfied consumers out there who have made formal complaints about LA Weight Loss. The Pure and Family Weight Loss Brands will be the same story, because the management is the same.

Just an FYI!!!!

Not What They Seemed!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 09, 2008

I am a former employee of LA Weight Loss. I was in management for over three and a half years, and the longer I stayed the more I questioned their methods.

First we started off as a franchise center, and after a month of me being there we were taken over by corporate. Which, by the way, was a shady transaction to begin with. The franchise owner didn't tell any of the employees he had sold the company to corporate, so the "big wigs" just came in one day and took over. Once we were corporate we were forced to start hard selling and hitting the "hot buttons" as they called it. Find out what makes them emotional about being overweight. Was it their clothes not fitting, was it their husband or kids? We were told that "if they cry, they buy." Which was just awful, I was never a hard seller. When we got new employees, most wouldn't even make it out of training. They all quit within the first couple of weeks. They would change the programs left and right, what foods you can and can't eat, changing the supplements to supposedly make them better.

In my few years with the company, I saw my share of success stories. Several of which I remember losing 100+ pounds. But most didn't use the LA Lites. Something that corporate was forcing us to say was crucial, which, turns out they were not. Sure they were tasty, but not a necessary thing to achieve weight loss success. Just another selling point to get hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars out of clients, using any method we could: cash, check, credit card, care credit. Clients didn't need to use the supplements either. But of course we were required to push them on to the people deemed "medically eligible."

One evening I sat watching 20/20 with my now husband, and after the program aired, he told me to get out now! After 20/20, the company issued a company-wide letter stating that none of the statements made by the show were true. But they were. Most everything they said was true. In came the refund requests and phone calls, thousands of dollars refunded, which by the way, if you were a manager a percentage was taken from your paychecks. Which meant you could have a chunk of your check missing without having a clue as to how much it would be! Not a great way to keep your employees. Needless to say, I left! I hated to, because the clients were truly what made my job enjoyable. You really get to know them, and in some cases, know their families. It makes it heartbreaking to leave because I really loved my clients. Helping people is what made the job what it was.

I have been in touch with several people still working for the company, since I left, which changed their name to Pure Weight Loss due to the overwhelming bad rep they were getting. They started to sell some different products along with the name change and people starting getting let go. The area supervisors were among the first to go, they had no idea what was going on. The center hours cut way back and some employees went from working 40 hours to 12 hours and sometimes less. Then they were told that the centers would be closing. They knew something was up, but didn't know it was as big as the whole operation shutting down.

All I have to say to those clients who were still attending the centers is: do everything you have to to get your money back! They may tell you it's not possible, but it is. If you have remaining weeks, whether you're in the weight loss phase, stabilization or maintenance...you CAN get your money back. They owe it to you. They will discourage it, but I do believe it is the law and you can contact the Better Business Bureau. Make sure you get a refund form, get all of the product that is owed to you, IT BELONGS TO YOU!! The owners have done horribly rotten things to both their emplyees and worse yet, the people who made made working for LA Weight Loss and Pure Weight Loss the only reason employees wanted to stay and did stay through all of this, the clients.

worked for me

AUTHOR: Nsky - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 20, 2007

I just finished losing the weight using LA Weight Loss/Pure Weight Loss in Eastpointe Michigan. Weight Loss programs only work if you follow them exactly as they are explained. End of story. This was a great program. The Eastpoine staff was well-trained, very knowledgable, and never sales-hungry. They only sold me what I needed. I did not buy anything up front. I insisted on a payment plan and they gave me one. I only bought nutritional bars and supplements as needed, never in advance. I told many people about my weight loss and no one wants to spend that kind of money, mainly because they are not serious about losing the weight. If you are out of any money, I support you. All clients who have paid for their program in advance should receive refunds, but I see a class-action suit as inevitable. My program did include 52 weeks of maintenance, which I will not get, but doesn't that constitute breach of contract. Anyway, I just want it known, that the program worked when followed properly, and not all centers and staff were about sales and profits. I feel the employees at East Pointe lost their jobs because of the practices of these other centers.

Pure Weight Loss is LA Weight Loss

AUTHOR: Weightlossqueen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 15, 2007

I am former employee of Pure/LA and the bottom line is that Pure and LA are one and the same. I just lost my job because the company is closing. I had worked for the company when it was LA Weight loss, before the changeover to Pure was made. I was in management, and right away I noticed the numbers had dropped at a drastic rate as soon as the changeover was made. Supervisors were more putting more pressure on everyone to SELL! SELL! SELL! And as a result clients were not returning to centers as often, employees were quitting, and then cut backs were made. Some days we were told to tell people that we were not in any way involved with LA Weight loss, the next day we were sister companies. It has been a very stressful time for employees since the changeover was made in September, and after a long few months all centers are due to close. They couldn't afford to pay me anymore and now I am out of a job. I have been sitting here worried about all the clients I love getting screwed out of a non-refundable program. If you were a client of Pure or LA, go pick up all of the products you paid for. If you had bars from when it is was LA, you are still entitled to them. Don't waste your thousands of dollars. And to anyone who was wondering, there were employees there who did care about their clients. It isn't all a numbers game for everyone who worked there. Nothing made me happier then seeing a client go off blood pressure medication because they were finally eating healthy. It is sad things had to end this way because the diet plan actually did work.

To make you feel better, all the centers across the nation are closing. Which is a good thing considering the fact that they have been planning this for some time now. Shortly after the New Year, Pure Weight Loss will be no more. No more pushing the clients to spend money each time they enter a center to get "support". No more asking for souls from those who want to start the program, but cannot afford it. No more wasting time with management that doesn't care about its employees. It's not that the employees weren't trained properly....they were being over-worked and underpaid....despite the 3-4% commission they received on any sales.

So, honestly, they must not have cared about the clients anymore. Telling clients what they thought would help get a sale. Supervisors, divisional and regional, were taking the most from their clients and employees. They honestly believed that it was, "all about the revenue". I'm glad to not be a part of that anymore!! I was told to push for revenue and "maximize sales" not only on a weekly basis, but on a daily basis. I was sick of it a long time ago and I can now feel normal and not greedy. When I look people in the face I don't want to see dollar signs, I want to see satisfaction. That's what should have been guaranteed, and I'm sad to say that it wasn't. So, I apologize for the experience you had with the company. Maybe this will help you out a little bit.

I saw a commercial about Pure Weight Loss and decided to look it up online. Then I came across this report. So I went to LA Weight Loss website and entered my zip code. Wouldn't you know it, I got sent to Pure Weight Loss website. On that website it said "LA Weight Loss is now Pure Weight Loss". I am sure glad I know the truth.

It's the same company with the same owners!

AUTHOR: Imani - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 04, 2007

I am a past employee who worked for the company for over 5 years up until a few months ago. The name changes occured after the damaging report on 20/20 in feb of this year.
The company is managed solely by 2 owners, one oversees the franchised centers and the other oversees the corporate centers.
The name change was due to the loss of revenue via new clients and the abandonment of current clients due to the damaging and yet true report shown on 20/20.
The program by far does work if you follow it,however its based on cash flow, meaning the amount of revenue each center can obtain each week.
You are pushed and pushed to make money as an employee and if you do not,you are removed from your positions, as a result alot of employees out of desperation for there jobs develop immoral and aggressive selling practices.
In response to the employee who claims that it is a different company with different owners....(LIE) Bold lie at that!
Its the same, the franchise may have a different owner and thats solely because that owner was able to buy into the company but the moral is still the same.(How much money can you get).
Its not about the weight loss its about how much money each client comes in the door with and spends point blank.

Don't believe any of the reports listed here where people are claiming Pure Weight Loss and LA Weight loss are different companies!!! They are the same. LAWL had a location right by my house and now the LA part of the sign has been removed and a canvas sign with the name Pure has been put up. When I go the the LAWL website and look for a center near me, I enter my zip code and then the same content that was on LAWL site is now on this site that I was re-directed to, only the Pure Weight Loss name is displayed.

This company is only interested in getting your money. Trust me, I use to work for LAWL and they treated their employees just as badly as their clients. Everything that was broadcasted on 20/20 was true. Just like Jane stated below, we never took any nutritional classes. LAWL is based out of Horsham, Pennsylvania, same as Pure weight loss. They use the same products, the same sales tactics, same closes! Do not make the same mistake many other people have made by choosing this company!!

The Truth about Pure Weight Loss

AUTHOR: Pure Employees - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 16, 2007

People, do not confuse Pure Weight Loss with franchise centers of LA Weight Loss. They are NOT the same. They are different companies, completely separate from each other. Here is what is causing the confusion: there were TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES both using the name LA Weight Loss.

One company sells franchise businesses to independent owners that are permitted to sell the LA Weight Loss program and operate under that brand. The other company runs its own weight loss centers.

These two companies have different owners. The company that runs its own centers changed its name to Pure Weight Loss, partly to distinguish itself from the franchise company and its business practices. But the other company and its franchisees are still operating as LA Weight Loss.

We should know: we are employees of Pure Weight Loss. The complaints we have seen on this site recently about Las Vegas, Nevada, Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Louisiana and North Dakota, to name a few, are not about our company.

Pure Weight Loss is a seperate company

AUTHOR: Stating - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 18, 2007

For all of you who do attend pure weight loss as a regular client you will know that the company is ran under someone different than the la weight loss centers that were in orlando, FL before. The owner is completely different and they have no connection with the la weight loss franchise company that was previous there. A lot of people are confused obviously on the difference between franchise and corporate but because the centers in orlando, Fl were owned under la weight loss frachise....it is easy to assume that they did just a name change because they are similar. But truly pure weight loss is a sister company to the la weight loss corporate office and they are NOT owned by the same people. So obviously the other comments will not have proof but if you do your research and really know the difference between franchise and corporate then you will know the truth. The clients under pure weight loss who are dedicated love the program and lose the weight that they want to lose. They love the customer serivce and couldn't be happier.
