My grandson took his 1983 Mustang into Purrfect Auto to have a smog repair and recheck done on a NEW engine.   The shop that did the smog check, didn't do repairs.  He was told many other things had to be done at a cost of $500.   He had to take the car back, as when he drove the 3 miles home, the car was rattling.   He was told there was NO oil in the car.   The did some things to it and as he arrived home, the engine seized.   We ended up donating the car to Kars4Kids, as Purrfect Auto caused the engine to  seize.   There was NO OIL in the car.   Have no idea why they didn't put the oil in it.

Yes Dave they are a good shop(NOT).  Thats why The State of California shut down their 5 shops in the Sacramento area today.  And yes they are owned by the same people that own the Vegas shops.  Look out the AG in Nevada is getting close to shutting down the Vegas stores as well.

I am appalled that you would stick up for these scum bags! You worked for them and you KNOW what they do, as I did..that is why I no longer work there! They are total rip offs! and they pay every one in cash which is against the law!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Think about it....

I am absolutely no friend of Purrfect Auto. As an ex-employee I check this site every now and again for new Purrfect Auto stories... because I know there will always be good ones. Again, I am no fan... by any stretch.
BUT, in all fairness (my weakness... being FAIR), it sounds like the 1983 Mustang had issues before it went onto a smog machine dyno. And, if indeed the engine blew... and it was "new"... I would have to think that something went wrong with the rebuild. Driving a healthy brand new engine with no oil for 3 miles will not blow it. Cause some serious problems and a lot of noise? Yes. I can assure you that NO mechanic is going to take the time, effort or possible liability in removing engine oil and giving a car back to someone with no oil in it. That knocking noise that would have been heard would be a HUGE indication that something was wrong. So... was it a mechanic that kept driving the car? Was it the mechanic that bought, built, broke, rebuilt and then broke the engine again? Noooooo. It's the typical... "I don't take care of my car, but I will blame a mechanic for tampering with it when it breaks down on me" ... story. STORY.
For as much as I dis-like the company in question, this rant hits a sour note. For all the perfectly true 'bad experiences' you might find on the web concerning PA... this should not be taken as one. People need to learn how to take care of a vehicle properly... and then go find an honest and reliable mechanic that will help you do the right things. But as 22 year veteran of the Auto Repair world... common sense dictates that there is more to this story than what has been written. 83 Mustang? Kid driver? New engine? Blown after a smog test? Mmmmm..... come on now.
