This site is the worst internet experience I've ever had. I originally joined up after seeing a commercial on tv that made it appear that good deals on popular products were plentiful on the site. When you join up, you are forced to pay $60 for 100 "bids". What no one tells you is there is no other choice. You must pay the $60 to join. I then proceeded to bid on a few different items that begin at a penny. Because they begin low and go up in 1 cent increments, the items are subject to a constant, neverending barage of bids every few seconds.
At $.60 per bid, in order to stay in the auction, you have to pour in your beds every few seconds as well. By the time you've won the majority of items, you have probably paid substantially more than the product is worth. Certainly, the whole lot of bidders has paid man, many times what the prize is worth, because each of their bids cost 60 cents each as well. This is the ultimate internet scam. This site is worse than a Vegas slot machine. To put money into Quibids is to flush your money down the toilet. What a shame. Save your money.

I noticed that the "Customer Service Shill" wrote a diatribe concerning the fact that Qbids was not gambling. No one ever said that it was. The author mearly stated that Qbids was WORSE than gambling. Apparently, this Quibids idiot can not even read. What a scam !!!

I do not want to hear a "Customer Service Representative" from Quibids define what gambling is from the dictionary. What I want to do is have them look up the word "SCAM" "FRAUD" and "CON".

This company may be "legal" but it is a scam. They con you out of that $60.00. THey actually steal it.

I am with QuiBids customer support. I would like to address some of your concerns here. First off, QuiBids is a pay to play auction model. We do not attempt to hide this information, but have provided it in several places on our website including the QuiBids 101 section that details our auction model. In this section we explain why bids are purchased and invested in auctions and how, if you are not the winner you can exercise the 'Buy Now' option and purchase the item out-right minus the value of the bids invested in that auction.
The Buy Now feature offers you the chance to purchase any product at any time during the auction and for up to 2 hours after the auction ends. Any real bids (aka Bid Pack bids) you place on an auction will be discounted off the Value Price*. Please note: Voucher Bids will not be used to discount the Buy Now Price.
Below is an example of how your discount Buy Now price is calculated:
Value Price: $100.00
Discount: Real Bids Placed x Bid Price: 100 x $0.60 = $60.00
Buy Now Price: $100 - $60 = $40.00 + Shipping/Taxes (if applicable)
QuiBids is also not affiliated with anything that can be considered gambling. All auctions on QuiBids are 100% customer driven, meaning that the outcomes of the auctions are determined by the customers themselves. There is skill that goes into every auction. Each auction varies in difficulty depending on a number of factors, including the popularity of the item up for auction, the number of bidders in the auction, the experience level of bidders in the auction, time of day, etc.
For an activity to be considered gambling as a matter of law, three elements must be present: consideration, chance and prize. Among other things, the outcomes of QuiBids auctions are not determined by chance; therefore, QuiBids auctions are not gambling. Dictionary.com defines gambling as 1. to play at any game of chance for money or other stakes or 2. to stake or risk money, or anything of value, on the outcome of something involving chance: to gamble on a toss of the dice. At the very least, the element of risk is taken out due to the Buy Now feature being available on 100% of QuiBids auctions.
No one has to walk away empty-handed. It is entirely up to the participant whether he or she will use the value of bids spent on an auction as a rebate to the purchase price.
