ON 1/19/2013 I went to Ashleys Furniture to purchase a sofa and loveset. I was offered a progam from the sales person with Ashley's to get the sofa and loveset with RAC the company inside Ashley's. After speeking with Leona Reeves the person who was to explain everything to me I with great reludence agreed and signed the contract. I was told that I could make 1 payment and then pay the items off using the early purchase option. So on 2/11/2013 I went back to RAC to make my 1st payment but I want to pay a lump sum of 500.00 and not the montly payment of 176.16. Leona was there to take my payment but when I tried to pay the lump sum she said " you can't pay a large amount you can only pay the 176.16 or pay the amount in full of 1430.28. I was told that the computer was only set up to except the regular monthly payment or the full balance not lump sum payment. I said you told me I could come and pay it off early. Leona said yes but you did not ask about lump sum payment. I had her to call the manager on the phone and he told me that the credit reporting agency will not let them except large payment because they are trying to help people build there credit up and there system will not except lump sum payment. Leona also said that if I paid 500.00 that day that only 150.00 would go toward my principa and the 350.00 would go toward fees and intrest.
I KNOW NOW THAT I MADE A GRAVE MISTAKE IN ENTERING INTO THIS MESS WITH RAC and if I pay the full months of the contract the 2 pieces will be 4439.50 which is 3 times the amont of the original price of 1385.98. Ashleys staff as well as RAC staff should be ashame of there selves in customers and trying to pass the buck. I will make sure I tell everyone I know not to purchase anything from Ashley's who refers customer to us RAC and RAC who lies, deceives and who steals your hard earn money.........
