RCN CONTINUED COMPLAINT FRM PREVIOUS COMPLAINT' RNC-YOU HAVENT HEARD NOTHING YET!' really... wait till you hear this... ALLENTOWN, PAALLENTOWN Pennsylvania
The previous email I sent was on 7/7/08. The same day I sent the SAME email to RCN. And I actually received a call the very next day and the voicemail that went somewhere along the lines of...'we have reviewed your email regarding the cable wire across your carpet. you are correct that wire should never have been left like that and we have come to the conclusion that we can send a tech out to correct this issue as soon as tomorrow without a charge. please call us at 1800-RING-RCN' ok...fine so i did. the first rep had NO idea what was going on and thought there was an issue with my cable. when i kept explaining 'THERE IS A LONG, THICK BLACK CABLE CORD RUNNING DIRECTLY FROM ONE WALL TO ANOTHER ACROSS MY LIVING ROOM FLOOR' he placed me on hold for the longest and exp that a tech can come out that friday but someone HAS to be here between 8am-8pm. i understand that someone has to be here but reality check....i work..and who doesnt? really...how can i be home the whole day??? i told him that i need to have a timeframe...thats impossible. he told me no way-thats all they can do. I asked for a supervisor and he said no.
so i hung up and called back 1800-ringrcn and held forever AGAIN, i spoke to a young lady who i had to go throught the WHOLE story and she placed me on hold for about 20 mins. she told me a tech will call me so i can set up a time that will work for me. GREAT! ok...i got another voicemail from a 'tech' who said 'we are calling to set up a time to fix the issue with your cable..please call back at 1800RING RCN.' ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!!!!??!
and when i go my cable and phone hooked up the guys installing said...'no thats not right they shouldnt have left the cord like that! you really need to fix that' like i havent?? ive been calling for MONTHS and they want me to pay almost $100. NO! mind you, let me refresh...my previous email on 7/7/08 exp that i have called RCN for SEVERAL issues with the remote alone....the hold times are ridiculous...the service is terrible! also when i asked to add phone and internet to my cable service the guy told me that it will be $24 extra a month. fine..i was paying 69.90 for cable so the 24 will bring my monthly bill to 93.90. so when i got my first bill it was $180.13. ??? what is that about??
i tried calling customer service..they close at 5. figures. i emailed....nothing. i got another letter stating now i owe $292.33!!!!!!!!!!! they NEVER told me that i was charged for installation. and plus when they came to put the cable the cut the locked cable box in my apt complex...so really i could contact my leasing office and have them discuss that with RCN aswell. (theres exposed cable wires in the hallway!!!) and theres rental box fees for everything and i really think the box paid for itself being how much i had to pay in cable alone!
theres also HBO charged on here...i never asked for it!! and this 'high-speed' internet is slower than i dont know what. this is unbelievable!! im sitting here with a cable across my floor, the slowest internet, and a bill for $292.33. so i called RCN today at 4:15pm and spoke to a 'whitney' who went over and over my bill and did not make any sense. all she said she can do is take off the HBO charge for my next bill. but nooone gets that I WAS NOT TOLD I WAS GOING TO PAY INSTALLATION WHEN IT SAYS ALL OVER THEIR WEBSITE NO INSTALLATION CHARGES. and i never asked for HBO! i help for a good 30mins till she came back after i asked for a supervisor and she said all they can do is credit 29.95 on my NEXT bill. well, that wont help me know. i told her i need to callback, i was going to have a fit. i also exp to her the cable cord situation and she said that she will get the tech on the line and they will not charge me.
so i waited and waited and spoke to a tech who said i had to pay 2 different fees equaling almost $100 for them to fix it. i told him what was told to me in JULY and when i spoke to whitney today. i asked for a supervisor and by that time my phone length was almost 60 mins. so i finally got 'EZA' and she told me that they couldnt waive the fees. so here i am...DISGUSTED with RCN with no help...on the phone for over 90mins (and RCN can verify that bc i have my phone through them!) with a bill with charges i was never disclosed about and just running around in circles. i am in customer service and i would NEVER give service like this. i dont know what kind of company they are running. and better yet...eza told me to call back customer service tomorrow.....
