I work in customer service and I know what is bad and good service. First off...I signed up for RCN in October 2007. They came and hooked up my cable put an ugly klunky box on my entertainment stand and the cable cord lays across my living room floor. Oh yes...directly across my carpet from one wall to another is a long black cable cord. I was too busy at the time to really bother to call at that moment but when i did they explained to me 'Oh no they shouldnt have done that!' When i reply 'can someone please come and fix it, its unsightly and definintly not safe i keep tripping over it.' she replies 'yes we can send someone out but you will have to pay $80(some)) Now-im not made outta money and since they charge an arm and a leg Im not paying for someones mistake! but we'll get back to that...now the remote doesnt work. it changes the volume but not the channels! FIRST CALL-they have me on the phone a good 45 minutes having me press all these buttons on the remote and finally everything works! Few weeks later..my remote doesnt change the channels or pulls up the guide!! SECOND CALL-first says i need to order a new remote and i said NO WAY! so THEN she has me press all these buttons and sends a 'signal' to my tv. That was about an hour phone call. About a month or so the remote doesnt work AGAIN!! GRRR...THIRD call-press buttons, they send signals to my box and tv, i have to unplug and plug cords back in and nothing. I have to drive to the next city over to pick up a new remote or i can have it delivered for $15. My GOD cant they do ANYTHING without charging...so i drove up-theyre not getting ANY extra money from me right? wrong. not only did i drive to pick up the stupid thing, not only did it not work AGAIN-but my next bill had the $15 charge on it! I called to say i need to cancel my services but guess what-lady told me i have to pay for someone to come and disconnect my box. Not only that-Im stuck with them bc my complex has some kinda monopoly going on. SO they did offer 3 months free of HBO. OK fine...i guess thats a change from the ole reality tv line up. Needless to say i checked out what movies are on-garbage!! i think i watch one whole movie but thats besides that fact. Anyways, last week I set up a phone line and internet...they put ANOTHER cord across my carpet to the other wall. I asked the guy 'see this cord? thats not supposed to be like that is it?' he says 'oh no no they shouldnt have done that. thats not right.' i said' so dont you think someone should FIX it.' he goes 'ya you gotta pay for that. or you should really put a carpet or move your tv.' I was 2 seconds away from saying 'no duh genius-like i havent thought of that.' but theres no other place to put an entertainment center!!!!!! oh and what a surprise...guess who im on the phone with AGAIN the next day??? RCN!!!!! my internet wasnt working. i have to shut down, unplug, plug in this and that. And the icing on the cake...i got my RCN bill on saturday...theyre charging me 14.95 for HBO. I guess I gotta keep them on speed dial.
