RCS Center Corp ripoff call, PLEASE READ, True Story, Tell your Kids not to answer if your taking a nap, Brookfield Wisconsin

This is a True Story, it just Happened, 2/13/06

I just looked this up on Google, to see who would tell a 12 year old they would win $500, if they could find their parents check book, and give them the numbers off of the bottom. Luckily I woke up in time to hear my son tell her he was only 12 and didn't know where the check books were.

That's when I asked him who he was talking to, he cupped the phone and said "this woman said I'd win $500, if I gave her my parents check numbers, where are the checks?" ( This would have been a big problem If he knew where they were, and I hadn't woken up, $500 to a kid is big big money)

I took the phone and found a very heavily accented India woman on the other end just finishing the sentence, " the numbers are on the bottom" I asked who she was? and Got, OH, Hi Sir, this is RCS, and, I interrupted her and asked her why she would ask a 12 year old for my check numbers, she replied that she didn't know he was 12, I informed her that I was standing right beside him, when he told her how old he was, and didn't know where the checks were.

The woman preceded to tell me I could give her the numbers off the check, I asked why would I want to give you my numbers?, Lets not get off the subject of asking a child to retrieve their parents personal information, she hung up on me. I was very angry that someone would stoop so low to rip a family off!

So, I preceded to tell my son about scam phone calls, and to never give out any information like that over the phone, If you don't know the phone number that's calling, not to answer it, we love our caller ID's don't we? Also, that you don't have to give out check numbers to a stranger to win money.
