Regions Bank

AUTHOR: Diogenes - (USA)

My parents live in Florida and have had their accounts at Region's Bank for many years.  They've never had any problems, but then again, they don't overdraft their accounts.  In my opinion, the real winner here is Region's Bank, since the OP has closed his account with them.  My only hope for him is, that Chase will return one of his bad checks, and the merchant will have him arrested for passing bad checks.

Attitude

AUTHOR: Southern Belle - (United States of America)

The very fact that the OP appears to shop around for banks based on their overdraft fee refund policy says a lot. Any bank will charge folks who overdraft their accounts. Some are nice enough to refund some of the charges, especially if it doesn't happen all of the time.

In this case, the bank refunded at least two OD charges. They didn't have to do that. Some banks wouldn't have done that. So I fail to see how anyone has been ripped off in this case. Except maybe the bank.

Reading Comprehension..

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

! It was never a law that the ignorant people above said! The commentators above kept saying that it was a law that was passed and that Regions HAD to charge the debit card fee but it was all a lie because Regions by themselves ordered the cancellation of this fee!

-
Sorry but while people did reference new laws, no where in any of the rebuttals did anyone say they HAD to charge this fee because of the fee, it has to do with one source of income being taken away and they need to make up for it in another way.  If someone did say that because of the new law they HAD to increase the fee please feel free to correct me.

Now, if they loose one income source they are going to try and get it from somewhere else.  Since this involved fees related to debit cards, as a result they(and other banks) decided to try and put a fee on a Debit Card.  Now, in this case the customer spoke and banks listened.  So now many banks are backtracking on this fee.

But you are still very naive if you think that is the end of it.  Eventually they will "make up" for this in some way.  It may not be this week or even this month.  But when this "uproar" settles down you will see these fees start to creep in.  They may not even try this again later with a debit card, it may be something totally different such as increasing the monthly account fee, increasing the conditions to be able to maintain a "free" account(thus causing more people to pay a fee).  It may even include them cutting labor at the branches, such as having 1 less teller during the day.

DAUTS, you idiot......

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

Nobody said new banking laws REQUIRED ANY  bank to charge these fees. The new laws just dried up the revenue source the banks used to receive on debit card transactions. They received a fee with each transaction...the Feds took that away.

The REAL reason Regions decided to scuttle the fee is the same one another large bank used...people didn't like it.
You have been proven to be wrong on almost everything you've said on here and then come back saying how you were right all along.

Also, the main "bull shit," as you so nicely put it pretty much originates from you.Keep writing more and more of those NSF checks, the more fees you pay, the better off the rest of us are...I do thank you for that.

"#20 Update By Author Booyah! I told you i was right !AUTHOR: DAUTS - miami (USA)SUBMITTED: Friday, November 11, 2011POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2011

Booyah!  I proved everyone above they were wrong and lying!  They most likely work at regions and just want to keep their jobs, but the truth was revealed.  On November 1st regions decided that they would not charge the $4.00 debit card fee any longer because customers were not cool (okay) with it which means it was always in there hands to charge or not charge this fee! It was never a law that the ignorant people above said! The commentators above kept saying that it was a law that was passed and that Regions HAD to charge the debit card fee but it was all a lie because Regions by themselves ordered the cancellation of this fee! This is a lesson to show that you shouldnt listen to what these big companies say to protect their reputation, it is all bull shit!  Either way, this is good news for everybody.

I knew i was right because it seemed fishy when only regions was applying a supposedly LAW passed by the federal government. If it was mandatory, then why didn't all banks do it? Makes you wonder. But wonder no more, the fee was removed!"

Read your comments above, pretty stupid, huh?

REGIONS continues to plummet ! dont trust your money with REGIONS bank !!

AUTHOR: DAUTS - (USA)

i dont mind being a habitual offender. what i mind is a bank completely lying to me about a once per year waive that they are not complying with.  Even the phone operator tried to play games with me by saying that it had not been a year since my last waive, so he told me he couldn't waive it. So i accepted it and paid it.   But then i overdrafted again months later which was way over a year since my last waive and then Regions representatives acted like they never told me that and that they do not waive even if it's been more than a year! i cannot do business with people like that !! that is completely unacceptable.  Regions representatives are a bunch of thieves !!  That company needs to be disciplined.  DONT TRUST YOUR MONEY WITH REGIONS !!  THEY WILL STEAL IT !!  THEY HAVE GIVEN THEMSELVES A LICENSE TO STEAL !!!

ONE OR TWO OF YOU KEEP SAYING THAT CHASE MIGHT be good now but it will get worse in the future just like REGIONS.  That is a stupid statement.  You are trying to blame CHASE for something that have not done yet? Who knows what will happen in the future?  Regions is doing it now therefore it makes them the worse  bank at the moment.  If there's a chance that CHASE can get bad then there's a chance that REGIONS can get even worse which will still keep CHASE BANK on top.

From my experience of banking with many banks. CHASE has been the best and most affordable.  And the high tech ATM tops it off.  It is such a convenience being able to deposit cash straight into it.   also, the hours of operation are the worse at REgions, they cannot even compare to CHASE.  Most Regions banks do not even open on saturdays. Horrible bank.  The people there try to kiss your ass in order to make up for there horrible banking but that is not enough.

Oh really

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

So Chase is the best choice.  I guess you didn't read everyone who complains about Chase on basically the same things.

Chase has such a convenience ATM machine for deposits available asap, even over the weekend.
- Well not knowing what your definition of ASAP is you may want to double check that.  Because no bank posts transactions on Evenings or Weekends, this includes Chase.

Also, ChASE does not charge a $4 fee like regions to use their debit card and that is what these idiots above are unwilling to admit!
- They don't charge nationwide yet.  But they have been "testing" this in various parts of the Country.  So when they do roll it out nationwide(and you can just about guarantee that they will) are you going to come back here and write a RoR on them as well?

Most likely they work for regions and dont want to lose their jobs.
- No what people are on here telling you is that just about every bank is basically the same.  And how many overdraft fee a bank will waive doesn't matter if you don't overdraft.  The best way to not overdraft is keep an accurate written register.

So leave Regions, but we will be waiting for you to post your next RoR on Chase.

CHASE is the best choice for a bank.

AUTHOR: DAUTS - (USA)

My problem was not that I overdrafted, because I have done that plenty of times and I simply pay the fees.  My problem is that REGIONS bank lied to me by telling me they would waive one overdraft fee per year but they later changed their mind and said they do not do that and never did!  They are complete liars and need to be disciplined! They lie to people just so that they become willing to open an account at the bank but then completely change everything they told you!   Regions is a horrible bank and everyone knows it!

Chase has such a convenience ATM machine for deposits available asap, even over the weekend.  And they will tell you that they ACTUALLY DO waive one overdraft fee per year!  Not like the garbage of Regions bank. Also, ChASE does not charge a $4 fee like regions to use their debit card and that is what these idiots above are unwilling to admit!  Most likely they work for regions and dont want to lose their jobs.

You're a total idiot blaming everyone but yourself

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

for your problems.

You can solve them by keeping a daily, accurate check register and not writing checks or using your debit card when you don't have the money.

The bank is really more generous than most on the overdraft fees and a free "first time" each year.

Grow up and move on.   ANY bank you move to will assess fees for any dufus who regularly writes short checks.

BTW, I don't work for Regions of ANY OTHER banking institution.

No sympathy here, your entitlement attitude is the major source of your problems.

Regions Is No Different Thank Any Other Bank

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

What happened to you at Regions will happen at Chase, except worse.  Don't believe me?  Try reading ROR and I guarantee you there are more complaints for Chase than Regions.  If you think Chase is going to waive your overdrafts, try again.  There are people I'm trying to help right now who have gone broke banking at Chase, with all of the overdrafts occurring, and there's nothing I can do to fix their situation.  Not saying Regions is better, but somehow pointing out...of all banks...LOL...that Chase is somehow far better.....ROTFLMAO.  Seriously?  REALLY?  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......

I'll go even further - all banks are the same.  All banks will eventually stop waiving your overdrafts because you won't keep enough money in your account.  It isn't the bank that's the problem.  It's the person banking that's at issue.  Further, all banks will eventually move toward charging for debit cards because they banks are limited by law to charge merchants.  If they can't get money from merchants, guess who they're going to get it from??  Yes, you.  All banks, yes all... are looking at doing what Regions, BofA, and Suntrust are doing now - and yes, even Chase is.  For now, they say they're holding off, but they'll eventually do it.  They'll have to.

All the problems you've been experiencing are no one else's but your own.  Please do not share your complete ignorance by pointing out how much better Chase is....lol.  I mean Chase really blows......

Run from Regions bank !!!! This company is conniving !

AUTHOR: DAUTS - (USA)

Well, your statement is incorrect. Because I also have an account at Chase and I love them.  That is the bank I would recommend to everyone along with Wells Fargo and Bank Atlantic.  You cannot beat Bank Atlantics hours of operation!  Wells Fargo and Chase have a state-of-the-art ATM machine that allows you to deposit money over the weekend so that you do not over draft unlike Regions. Regions has a 1970-technologically challenged ATM.  It is garbage!  Come on, its time to be honest.  I know everyone agrees that Regions has always been a shitty bank.  But the problem is that they are not even doing anything to improve!  Instead, they are getting worse. The teller at Regions never even gives anyone a receipt after they make a transaction. Ridiculous.  They do not even have the withdrawal slips out in the public counter, you have to practically squeeze one out of them because they do not want you taking your money back! I can go on about all the negative things that Regions has that other banks do not but like I said I am not getting paid for this so I am going to go to bed now.  I just wanted to let people know the truth behind this conniving company.

REGIONS BANK IS VERY INCONVENIENT !!

AUTHOR: DAUTS - (USA)

First of all, my statement is correct because you mentioned that about 3 other banks beside regions are charging the same ridiculous fee, well 3 out of 4893 banks that there are in the US, makes me 99.9% correct.  So I would consider that to be a good enough percentage for my statement to be correct.

Regions had one of the lowest ratings out there because it has so many inconveniences and their charges are ridiculous.  The checks cost so much more than anywhere else just for starters. I can go on but Im not getting paid for this so I have to get back to work.  I am just providing a friendly consumer message.  Beware REGIONS BANK !!

HOW THEY TRICKED ME OR MORE CLEARLY: DELIBERATELY LIED TO ME.

AUTHOR: DAUTS - (USA)

ILL EXPLAIN HOW THEY TRICKED ME OR MORE CLEARLY: DELIBERATELY LIED TO ME.

About four years ago before I had an account with regions, the person trying to convince me to open an account there told me that just like most other banks, regions forgives one over draft fee per year.  So ever since, I have got several o.d. fees (around five or six). And the first year I called and they actually waived it.  Then the second year I called and they said they couldnt because a year had not passed since the last fee was waive (which is a completely different deal than once per year like the representative had told me).   But either way I decided to go ahead and wait.  After the year passed I was waived another o.d. fee I had been charged at the time.  This is only two in almost three years.  Now since the last fee that was waived it has been over a year so then I recently went to the bank and even called customer service to get another o.d. fee waived that I was charged two weeks ago, but now they are telling me that they do not have such policy and that the representative made a mistake by telling me there was.  For me their representative = Regions bank. So since the representative lied to  me = Regions lied to me.  Is that simple enough for you homeboy to understand.  Point is: RUN these liars !!!  They are thieving liars !!  plus there customer service is horrible !!1  they are incredibly rude !!!  I can go on about this thieving bank but I do not have all day ! so im going to leave it at that !!

By the way your statement is 100% wrong.

- There are at least three other banks I am aware that have recently started doing this either regionally or nationally, and these banks charge $3-$5 monthly for the Debit Card.
