My wife and I bought our car through the dealer in April 2003 and at the time didn't know anything about Reliable Credit. We have learned that they have charged us late fees every month of our loan and late payment fees that started on the day that the payment was due. We have had nothing but nightmare problems with this company from the beginning. They hold onto our payments to ensure that late fees will be assessed on our account, they have charged us for insurance and then deducted most of it when we showed proof of insurance. We had a 36 month loan and right now we are at 41 payments and they say we still owe over $3,000. I have been in their offices every month demanding answers to why our balance is so high (we should be done with them). Every time I go in there they have a different answer; late fees on your account and the interest on that late fee from the date it's due until it's paid (what happened to the 10 day grace period?) or they say that we were charged for insurance. Each time I state to them that when we are late they send us a letter that states that we have to pay our car papment and a $22.00 late fee, nothing about interest or other fees. They then took $25.00 off for every month they overcharged us (surprised!). Then they say that it's the insurance of $2,022, but they refunded $1,600 so that doesn't make sense either. Now every other month we receive a letter stating that they need proof of insurance and every time I get this letter I go into their office and make them give me a receipt that shows that I brought in the proof of insurance. Last month I received this letter again, so I called their offices and they told me that they needed proof so I told them they had to contact my insurance directly because they were not satisfied with what I had brought in as proof. My wife gets phone calls at work every month starting on the day that the payment is due until I make the payment, which is within a few days of the due date. The phone calls are either; just calling to remind you that your car payment is due, to we need the payment or the car. One month my wife was contacted by the "legal department" and told that they needed a lot of money or the car. I am fed up with this company and was surprised when my search on the internet brought up all of these other people with the same problem. I am definately interested in any legal help that we can get to get out of their clutches. We should be done with them but they say we still owe over $3,000 without a definate answer as to why. Please help us!!!

You Don't Have a Clue, Jen!!!

"By law the BBB has to investigate every complaint"?  What law are you speaking of, Jen?  The BBB is not a government operation!  The BBB sells phoney accreditations and memberships to ANYBODY who wants to buy one.

The BBB is NOTHING.

Turn them in!

This is by far the worst company I have seen! Reliable Credit takes advantage of people and has no remorse about it! I've seen nothing but bad things come from them. My only suggestion is to go onto the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint! By law, the BBB has to investigate EVERY complaint. Its the only way to turn them in without paying for a lawyer to go after them. I can't stress enough that you need to tell the BBB and turn them in.

Current Customer

I'm a current customer with Reliable Credit and have nothing nice to say about them. I read the previous positive comment however, in searching the internet it appears that there is only one happy customer.

I too am seeking legal advise on how to put these scammers that prey and take advantage of people in there place.

Oh, the dealership I purchased the car from........went out of business.
I can't wait for Reliable to go out of business and file bankruptsy like AIG, Citigroup, Wachovia. If all of those reputable banks can't stay afloat.....I KNOW Reliable is going down!

My one wish is that there is an attoney out there reading this that will take up the case and as a group we can facilitate Reliable Credit's demise!
Woo h*o....that thought just brought a warm fuzzy to my heart. :)

Past Customer

My wife and I went through a used car dealer who set up our loan with Reliable several years ago. We got a horrid interest rate because we had horrid credit. 36 month loan on 7000.00. We made all our payments on time and never had a single problem with them. About 2years in they refinanced us at a slightly lower rate and for 48 months at this time. Still never a problem. Once we had paid that SUV off we traded it in on another higher quality SUV and SPECIFIED Reliable for our second loan. Through this and other efforts we finally got to a place about 6 months ago where we could qualify for a bank loan at a much better rate so we did, but we would absolutely not hesitate to enter into a contract with this company should the need arise.

I do not know this to be the case in this situation but I do know that in a lot of cases a single late payment DOES raise the interest rate, and that affects the total amount of the loan. Might be something worth looking for in the original contract. The Milwaukee, Oregon office was fantastic.
