So I bought a car from RK back in february, I had gone through a bankruptcy the year before and therefore had to do in-house financing.  I was advised on numerous occasions that my loan woukd "build my credit", while test driving the car, my salesman advised me I should buy from RK as they report to the credit bureaus and another local car company auto connection don't (my boyfriend bought a car from auto connection a few weeks prior) and even given their bad past they have been much better than RK.

When talking with the sales man to figure out cost etc, I was leaning towards just walking away, so he sent over one of the big guys, who was so UN believeibly rude, saying things like, I have a car to drive home in tonight, actually I have 2 cars, how are you going to get home?? he was so rude my  bboyfriend actually intervend.

Sadly I agreed to buy this car that they had been pushing at me to buy.  I put $2000 down, and pay $380 a month totaling $13000 after they add their fees.  The car was valued at $5000.

When I signed the paper work I asked the finance guy if they reported he said yes every 6 months.

THEY DONT!!!!!

I drove the car down the road, stopped for gas and the head lights didn't work...battery (which they said was new) has to be replaced after 8 weeks, the AC compressor packed in after 4 months.

On top of that every interaction with them they are rude..one employee Hank Simons I have never had someone speak so rudely to me, why are they so annoyed about me asking why it's not on my credit report when there the ones telling buyers it will.

This week Ittook it into my own handss and an information request  through their website song if they report on in house finance, Vernon howard responded saying they fo, so I at least have this in writing.  I called tge finance director who was incredibly rude as well, he denied they report as well I told him I had the email and he asked me to bring it in, I forwarded it straight to.his personal email...what have I got...nothing...crickets.

only advice I can give is don't waste your time with these lying sleaze bags...they will rip you off, scam you and lie, do not buy a car from RK or any of their associated companies.

Update

AUTHOR: jesse - ()

POSTED: Thursday, October 31, 2013

So i met with Mr Klein after he contacted me when he saw my complaint on here.

I'll be honest i was very aprehensive given my previous experience with RK.  My parents were visitining from the UK when the meeting was scheduled so we all went!

Tom was very friendly, seemed genuinely concerned by my experience, we left his office on the Monday on the agreement he would look at options and get back with me on the Friday (again i was very aprehensive).

Unfortenately on the Wedneday, in the pouring rain, the check engine light came on and the car died.  I called Tom and left him a voicemail, and my father emailed him.  Expecting a reply the next day we got the car to a safe place and walked to get a cab from nearby.  By the time we got the cab, Tom had emailed several times, he had the car towed to RK on Mercury Blvd, half way home he called me, my parents were due to fly back to the Uk the next day but i had no way to get them to the airport, Tom was cencerned about this, and the next day he had a driver form his VA Beach store pick up me and my parents and bring me to him.  When we got there he had 2 cars picked out.  A Fiesta and an Elantra.  He said i could choose one and take it for the weekend.  If i wanted to keep it, he had no idea on how much negative equity i had in the other car and how we would do finance but he said it was an option.  He also offered that if i took back the Aveo he woudl fic my AC @ $1200, eat the current repair bill $600 an pay my car note ($380 a month) for 3 months!!  As he said "as you get older you realise simple is better".

Well being young still i decided to go with the non simple.  I wanted the Fiesta, i got my application into Tom and he worked hard on getting me into the car i wanted.  I got a call on the Thursday stating the financing was all straight with a local credit union with an APR of 7.5% (for someone fresh out of a bankruptcy, thats great)

I travelled down to VA Beach excited but nervous as i wasnt sure about the negative equity, but to my surprise when i got there Dorinda (my sales person) handed me a pay off sheet for $8600.  My heart sank i thought that $8600 was being added to my loan, but no they had one of the finance guys come in and explain, that RK had paid off the loan and i was starting from scrach again!!

So i now have a nice new car, a 7.5% APR (compared to i think it was 24% they told me, but i am unsure), cheaper insurance and my payment is less, plus the Credit Union reports the loan every 30 days, liek any traditional installment loan, so with in a year or so it will have grown my score greatly!!

Then today 10/31 Tony from Va Beach RK called me, saying Tom had looked over my deal, and saw that i purchased a service agreement for $2000.  Tom wanted me to get the best deal and after looking everything over advised Tony to call me and notify me that i really didnt need it, as i am still protected by the Ford Power Train for another 17k miles, and the warranty only covers for $36,000 so really i was paying $2k for a warranty that woudl only be for 19 months.  Tony is rewritting my deal and will reduce my payment down yet again.

The biggest quetsion is, would i buy from RK again?  Well yes and no.  I would buy from RK in VA Beach in a heart beat all the people at the store were incredibly nice and helpful, Tom went WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND!!!  and Dorinda and Tony from used car sales were amazing and made the experience as easy and straight forward as possible.  However i wouldnt return to the Mercury Blvd store, just because i am bitter about the whole experience there, and why would i when i know i can go to the VA Beach one?

Its a shame i had to go this route to get the result, but im really glad i got to give RK another chance, I am one very happy consumer.

UPDATE-Just As I Suspected!

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 23, 2013

This dealership HAS PURCHASED their PHONEY "rating" from that scam BBB operation.  Check out YouTube for "BBB Scam" to see the story about this nationwide con-game.  If this dealership was so, so, so honest, they wouldn't have hit you up with this BOGUS fee I told you about.

Hey Tom, Start With a Refund of the BOGUS, ADD-ON FEE!

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 23, 2013

So this Tom wants to help you?  Did you check your paperwork?  Please do and you'll find a BOGUS, ADD-ON, PHONEY FEE which they need to REFUND to you at once.  Here is how their PHONEY FEE scam works...They quoted to you some figure which they say is the "price" of the car you bought.  Guess what?  It isn't!  What the price really was is that phoney price they quoted you PLUS a bogus, add-on, phoney fee of, what their internet site says is $649.  In order to further DECEIVE you, they give this bogus fee a deceptive, official sounding name.

On the website, they lied to potential customers calling it a "processing fee".  This is not to be confused with taxes which are collected by them or official state fees for registration/transfer.  That money is collected by them to be forwarded to the state, HOWEVER, many dealers will PAD that amount by some gross amount and hope you won't question it.  Before you talk to this guy, find out from your state tag office what the state fee is for registration and transfer.  Then compare that to what your paperwork says and catch them in another con-game.

The $649 I mentioned above is NOT any official government fee.  It all goes to them, therefore its part of the price of the car.  They played this game because they don't have the integrity/honesty to operate without deception/fraud.  Also beware if they try to hide behind the BBB.  If a dealer has PURCHASED their BBB "membership", when caught in fraud, the dealer will hide behind the BBB in hopes you are too stupid to know the real score of the BBB.  The BBB is also a complete scam.

The BBB is NOT part of ANY government body and has ZERO powers to do anything.  Any business can buy any phoney BBB "accreditation" they want.  The phoney BBB "ratings" are a BOUGHT AND SOLD COMMODITY.  The converse is true also.  If this store is not a BBB "member", it ONLY means they have yet to PURCHASE their phoney "accreditation".  Be careful in dealing with this guy.  They have already set the tone and showed their "hand" when they deceived you with this phoney, add-on, bogus fee.

If they treated you so-o-o rudely, WHY did you reward them with a sale?  Neither you nor this boyfriend of yours had the backbone to walkout.  Instead, you and him played doormat and gave them their reward.  Incredible!  Next time, instead of this "boy"friend, bring along a MAN.  As far as the credit reporting is concerned, you do know there are three major credit bureaus?  They may report to only one.
