For 7 years, I worked for this company. Im not writing as an ex-disgruntled employee but on a certain practice that is used that misleads almost every customer that purchases any fabric or leather products. RTG is very demanding on all its salespeople to sell the fabric/leather protection on sofas, loveseats, chairs, etc. I was literally written up and had my job threatened for not having the 90% that they expect. Unfortunately, myself and every other salesperson within the organization is basically forced into decieving the customer when it came to what they call "the bond", just to save our jobs.

They used to use a practice where they told a customer that they will discount $50 off the price of their living room set. Actually, the customer would have recieved the $50 anyway as the package they were buying had a $50 savings , but the customer didn't know that.

This practice was used in both the Vero Beach store and the West Palm store that I worked in for 5 years. There are so many "tricks" that are used, I can't even count them all. I do know that the manager in the Vero store blatantly lied to customers telling them they would get full replacement on their leather if it stains. What a LIE!!!!! The only thing you just bought was a little bottle of cleaner and on the warranty paper, a statement saying that RTG may clean it but only at their discretion. The managers are under the same pressure as the salespeople. She would much rather lie to a customer about the "bond" then face the repercussions of upper management.

If there is anything that I can say as to help anyone purchasing from RTG.....get what you are promised in writing...AND READ IT!!!!!!! Don't throw away your hard earned $ for a product that already comes treated from the factory! The bond is a TOTAL RIPOFF and RTG has made millions on unknowing customers.

Im back!! Ive been reading more postings on this site about RTG and I must say that I'm shocked by some employee rebuttals to certain issues from mislead and victimized consumers.

On page 2 thru 4, there are 3 I just read. One saying "rooms to go ripoff-liars from grapevine tx on 5-22-04.

Another saying "will not cover warranty" from TN on 11-30-04 And a 3rd saying "rtg complete junk ripoff" from GA on 7-24-04 I'm going to cover all these complaints and employee lies in 1! The leather protection that ROOMS TO GO sells is a total hoax. For $60 you can "protect" your sofa. Another $50 for the loveseat, $40 for the chair and $20 for the ottoman. What do you get, a lifetime supply of leather cleaner. There is no warranty, only a line on the "warranty paper" if you get one, which I can almost guarantee that none of these people did, saying they will come clean your furniture at their own discretion. Thats IT!! Nothing else.nada! zilch! Leather breathes, so therefore, in response to one of the 2 idiot employees, they do NOT put teflon on leather as it is a sealant. Liar Liar Pants on Fire!! Another employee stated how when you did'nt purchase the "warranty", the customer voided all RTG's responsibility for their furniture. Another HUGE lie!!! Your furniture has a 1 year warranty regardless if you treated your leather or not. They use stains and other things that have nothing to do with manufacturers defects as an excuse to not have to service you're furniture. And the audacity the one employee had in commenting about someones "stupid wrong complaints"! That is the most appalling thing I've read yet. You are a sad excuse for a human being! Every complaint here was as valid as the pope is Catholic.

When I started my career w/rtg in west palm in feb of 2000, I was literally taught how to get the fabric protection. We carried a black vinyl set that was exempted from being protected. However, the manager insisted we still sell it so his numbers would be "spiked" on the sets that protection wasn't sold on. My job demanded this from me and every other salesperson if were to stay employed. There were many of those sets sold, and thats just from 1 store. I don't know the law, but i would think that this was quite illegal.

The salespeople earn from 60k to 100k a year with families and big mortgage payments. Unfortunately there aren't too many jobs that pay that well, therefore, obliging to these practices is simply out of necessity. For the 2 employees who posted, I hope you get what you deserve!

Ive posted quite a few rebuttals on RTG"S customers' complaints and will continue to do so. I'm sure that someone from their corporate office is going to say things about me as gisgruntled or whatever it may be. Thats Ok, I don't care! Threaten to sue me. I don't care. I speak the truth! My pen is sharper than any sword you may have! And I have alot more pens!

The saddest part of all of this is I truly don't think that the owner, jeffrey Seaman really knows the things that go on on the store level. Things like how many times I witnessed Jack Curtis, the regional manager of South Florida, literally screaming at the top of his lungs to salespeople on what a piece of s... they are. They even have a name for his outbreaks. the "Jack Attack"! Stay Tuned

As a past 7 year employee of ROOMS TO GO, and with the knowledge I have acquired, if there are any consumers out there that are obviously quite unhappy, please message my posting and I will be more than willing to help and direct you to resolving your issue. Their customer service will give you the run-around until you just "go away". I will give you the facts as well as the best source for resolution.
