I was a Sprint customer for several years. My husband and I found a better deal with better customer service with AT&T through his employer. We are getting more services for the same amount of money as we were paying with Sprint. I cancelled my account with Sprint and ported my number over with no problem. I started getting bills from Sprint about the amount that I was past due on. When I was able to pay that, I started receiving bills with a $200 cancellation fee on them. I was never told in the cancellation process when my contract was up.

I received one notification from RPM in the mail stating what was owed and that I had 30 days to respond. I sent a check for $84 that I owed Sprint in past due charges for my account. I also sent a letter stating why I was not paying the rest of the bill, which now included not only the $200 cancellation fee but other "late" charges because I had not paid this fee. That is the only written communication I have had with RPM since.

I recieve at least 2-3 phone calls a day from RPM at all times of the day, including dinner time and on Sunday mornings. I now recieve them from 5 different phone numbers from all over the country. I do not always answer the phone. I have spoken with someone probably 4 or 5 times from RPM. I have repeatedly asked for them to send me something in writing stating why they did not accept my appeal to the charges. I keep getting told that they will make notes of that on the account. Obviously that has never been done. Every person I have spoken with is rude and I have hung up on every one of them.

This company is completely ruthless and only has one agenda - get your money anyway they can.

Response to "None".

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

"None",

Who cares how long you have been online! That means nothing to anyone. I too have been online since the very first "online" service was available and 4800 Baud was considered "fast". So what! Who cares!

The fact is, that you are too stupid to see that the ripoff here was not committed by Sprint! Sprint was in no way involved here! That was my statement. Nothing more.

So who is the idiot? Really?

Do you actually think that "Boost" is actually a "carrier". They do not own any towers or other equipment. NO. They are NOT. They simply piggyback off the REAL "carriers". I bet you think Vonage is actually a phone company too, and the easter bunny is real. You need to get a grip on reality.

FYI...I do not work for Sprint. I have never worked for Sprint or any other communications company.

However, I am a VERY SATISFIED Sprint customer and have been for several years.
I have never had even 1 problem with them.
None.

re
Steve, you're a jerk and an idiot! I bet you work for Sprint! Of course the moderators allow me talking about Boost! They can clearly see my rip off report on Sprint. So let me guess, I wrote it just so I can write in this particular report about Boost? hahahaha. Hilarious!

You must have a very sad life. I've been online for a good 15 years now from way back in the days of BBS' so the people I chat with are transparent. You have a miserable life so to get some satisfaction you get on the internet and be a jerk to people. Or you are a Sprint Customer Care rep (jerk, Sprint Customer Care Rep.. same thing any way).

Anyway, Christine, I'm completely with you and I still think you should persist and make a fuss. Why did you agree to the contract? Because you thought you were going to get a good service right? Me too! Luckily for me I figured out what they were about in less than a week so it was well before my 30 days was up! And it took me about 5 hours of phone calls to try to resolve my simple problem and TWO HOURS on the phone trying to cancel! (Read my report.. it's the one with '$700' in the title).

PERSIST, PERSIST AND PERSIST! I hope this California thing puts these cancellation fee's to an end!

As Steve stated above, there is no ripoff here....You signed a contract with Sprint and it's up to you to meet that obligation, regardless of any better deals that come along from other carriers. Verizon, T-Mobile, ATT and Sprint all have identical policies: you break the contract, you pay a termination fee.

Sprint is nort the problem here! The problem is with RPM Collections, a third party collector.

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

The OP needs to understand that the billing discrepancies, if any, are totally separate from the actions of RPM, a third party debt collector. These are two totally separate issues.

Sprint is NOT RPM!

Christine, it is NOT Sprint's obligation to tell you when your contract was up! That is your responsibility as a consumer to protect yourself! You should always keep accurate records. And, your account was in default at the time you cancelled it!

I don't see how Sprint engaged in any rip off here.

And now for the idiot doing an advertisement for "Boost Mobile". I'm suprised the moderators allowed that advertisement, but just so everyone knows, Boost Mobile is not actually a carrier. They just piggyback off of the big companies.

This person must be some sales rep for Boost Mobile.

#5 Consumer Suggestion

PERSIST!

AUTHOR: None - (U.S.A.)

My god there are so many rip off reports on sprint! I just wrote one 2 days ago! California just declared the "Cancellation fee" ILLEGAL! YES! ILLEGAL! They also determined that Sprint's average loss for canceled lines is $14, WAY BELOW the $200.

I'd tell them you are speaking with an attorney who is organizing a class action lawsuit for your state (or find out if one is on going). Drop the name! They had to pay 73 MILLION!

I use BOOST MOBILE. Switched over for a PDA phone... I was gone in less than a week after dealing with their customer service over the broken phone they sent me. I'm back with Boost now. It's simple, they charge me $60/month, and it's unlimited calling nationwide and I can roam anywhere in my state. If I don't pay, it gets shut off at midnight. If I just forget to pay.. it's on within FIVE MINUTES of me making a payment! And let's say my billing date is the 25th and I don't pay til the 30th.. the phone is shut off for five days but I don't have to pay again until the 30th! No charges for non-working service!

Sprint is a RIP OFF! Why they own BOOST I have NO IDEA. I'm sure the relationship is something like Earthlink is to Time Warner. They are their own company but rent time Warners cable lines to provide their service.

I've never had a customer service issue with BOOST. Well, one time, but it was due to them setting up a new phone system and inbound customer service calls getting routed all messed up for a 48 hour period. Other than that... get BOOST! When I turned my phone back on yesterday it was like being reunited with an old dear friend.

And you want a good solution to these high tech phones? Get a Palm Pilot or pocket PC! They have some for around $400 that offer WIFI, a CALENDAR, FULL INTERNET, NAVIGATION, and ALL of the perks of a smartphone without paying a monthly fee. PLUS if there is no WIFI you can.. (drum roll please)... CONNECT TO THE INTERNET BY BLUETOOTHING THE PDA WITH YOUR BOOST PHONE! Oh it's freaking AWESOME!

SCREW SPRINT
SCREW AT&T
SCREW NEXTEL
SCREW T-MOBILE

SCREW THEM ALL! To me, early termination fee says "we suck at taking care of our customers so we are going to try to lock you in a contract where you can't do anything about it when we show you how horrible your life will become when you are spending hours upon hours every month trying to correct our billing errors or getting warranty service on your phone"
