As can bee seen by many other reports here, in the past 2 months Radio Shack has built up quite the track record.

As I was in a rush when purchasing my phone(which I now regret), I went ahead and said sure throw on the phone insurance.

I had SPECIFICALLY asked the representative if this covered broken screens, spill damage etc. I had also inquired as that I would receive a replacement phone IMMEDIATELY upon the event of a problem with my phone.  The sales representative ensured me that their insurance covered all this.

Well, here's what happened - my phone stopped charging properly(going into a charge loop, thinking it's charging when it's not), and I'd never dropped the phone, or anything else of the likes. I took it to a representative with my receipt and such, showed that I have the insurance and the new representative had told me that it's a repair-only insurance policy.

Here's the GREAT thing about the repair policy, you get NO phone from RadioShack in immediate replacement(you have to be with out a phone, and send it into to their repair shop - which I'm assuming they probably just send it to the manufacturer), and it just so HAPPENS that it doesn't cover ANYTHING besides malfunctions - which is quite interesting because;

Samsung Warranty is a year long Warranty, and it covers EXACTLY what RadioShack does. Now, does that make sense?

Samsung's Warranty does exactly what Radio Shack's 60$ repair only "insurance" does. So therefore, I was sold insurance for virtually NO reason, considering my phone was covered under the warranty under the premise of malfunction.

If I we're to have accidentally damaged my phone - that would NOT have been covered under RadioShack's 60$ insurance.

This is a blatant scam, and I will be pursuing this matter legally under the premise of false advertisement if I do not receive compensation for my issues with RadioShack and I suggest that any of you having similar issues do the same. This is unfair and down right evil, especially to those who are not so well off.

RadioShack will not be receiving my money any more, that much is for certain.

#1 Author of original report

Obvious display of disregard of consumers.

AUTHOR: Cameron - (United States of America)

Regardless of what associate sold me the insurance plan, it was sold under false premises, which is false advertisement. This employee was/is a representative of your company, and therefore a integral part of the representation of your company and their standards.

It appears that your concern of employee conduct is minimal at best.

Also, I find it quite disheartening that you would consider your consumers ignorant. It is quite obvious that you shouldn't even be representing Radioshack, because your communication skills are violently inappropriate.

Apparently customer care is not one of yours, or Radioshack's strong points.

Upon recent light of your response, I find it only appropriate to mention that I had left a message with the San Luis Obispo County Radioshack district manager(upon my original post), and I have to this day never received a response.

Your company displays a blatant inability to perform any kind of business ethics, and customers of this company should be extraordinarily weary considering you can't trust what their representatives tell you, which the person in response to me made vibrantly clear.

I've talked with previous employees of Radioshack, and they do indeed have plenty of incentive to misrepresent services and products because they receive a commission for what they are able to sell you.

I'm sorry, poster, but your company simply is not considerate of their customers.

#2 UPDATE Employee

Insurance Policy

AUTHOR: wickedlette - (United States of America)

Firstly, I will admit that the associate you worked with made several mistakes, and I apologize for that, but one employee's mistakes should not reflect the performance of the other 4,700 stores in the nation. We are not evil, and we as a company do not participate or condone criminal activities or scams. You were exposed to several forms of literature that presented the correct information, regardless of what the associate told you. If you neglected to collect this information, then you cannot claim pure innocence in the outcome of this situation.

Our insurance did indeed cover accidental damage and malfunctions, if you purchased the correct plan. Your recipt would have reflected which plan was selected, and the countless signs and brouchers we have around the store for customers to see would have gone into detail about what the insurance covers. There was also a contract you needed to sign to give us permission to charge yuor credit/debit card, which explained in detail what the insurance covered, and the proper way to make a claim. You chose not to read this, and signed anyways, consenting to the clauses of our insurance.

Again, I apologize for your poor experience with this particular store, but had you taken your time and read the presented information describing your insurance, the lying sales associate would have been a meer annoyance rather than the scapegoat of your own ignorance and mistakes. In the future, don't just rush into things and sign contracts without reading them. Also, try not to spread lies about policies you clearly don't understand.
