Rapimax was contracted for our state-to-state move by Nationwide Relocation Services/Movingcost. They showed up in Memphis with a truck that was too small. They destroyed most of my furniture, my TV, and my grill during the loading. They physically pulled my grill apart, breaking many pieces, and then set the broken dirty pieces on top of my furniture. They pulled my computer desk apart rather than unscrew any pieces.

When they finished loading they realized that not all the pieces would fit. They arranged to meet us the next morning at 9 am. They showed up at 9 am eastern time, which is 8 am in Memphis. They then removed all my household items IN THE RAIN in my drive way so that when we arrived all our items(furniture, boxes, mattresses) were soaking wet.

They then stood at the back of the truck and physically pushed our belongings toward the front of the truck so they could fit the last items on.

When they delivered the items we were over our weight (of course)and they could not produce a light-weight ticket, as is required by the DOT. They tried to use the title of the truck as their ticket since it has a weight on it. FYI their title said the truck was exactly 12000 lbs. Nobody makes anything that weighs exactly 12000 lbs. They've been ripping people off with this for awhile.

They saw we were taking pictures with our camera so they stole it. Luckily for us we had to change film so we have some pictures. They didn't put anything back together like we were told they would do.

They have now said that we authorized them to offload in the rain. Total Lie. And six months later they are now saying that all the damage was there before the move, except for the two lightest items. What a surprise.

And we have jsut found out that the comapny itself is responsible for settling the claim, not an insurance company. So the people who damaged all of our stuff has to write the check themselves. So for damage to property with real value of over $6000, they are taking responsibility for $102.

Do not use Rapimax or Nationwide Relocation Services/Moving Cost. They will try (and usually succeed) to rip you off coming and going.

Insurance no help

The insurer for Rapimax, which is now out of business, says that their policy only covers the goods when they are in transit, so the damage loading or unloading isn't covered. They suggested contacting our home owners insurance. Another waste of time because idiot movers aren't covered, even though I asked them specifically if our stuff would be covered. Of course they have no record of that and "they never say that to a customer." Our only recourse is small claims court. Suggestions welcome. And FYI in regards to our weight issue. Rapimax sent the state of Florida a copy of the light weight ticket reading 13300 lbs. They were defrauding everyone they ever moved for 1330 lbs. right off the top. Wish us luck.

The mover is NOT the one who cuts the check, otherwise why would they even HAVE insurance?

Here is the contact info for Rapimax's agent. You may have to call several different offices to find out the specific agent for the policy number, but keep at it and you will get at least some of your repair costs.

Just keep asking for the agent who holds this policy.

Then you need to file all sorts of complaints, like the BBB, the DOT (1-888-DOT-SAFT), and anywhere else you can find. Emphasize the no weight ticket thing to the DOT.
