In 2005 we had a house built and Preston supplied the septic sand. Several months after moving into the house we were contacted by a sub contractor who worked on the septic and he told us that Preston did not use septic sand but a cheap sand. I called Mark Preston and he told me we received septic sand because he was there when the trucks were being loaded.
Two months ago we sold our house and the buyers inspector found that Preston did indeed use chesp sand instead of septic sand. We lost the sale. We had two other companies inspect the septic field and they agreed with the buyer's inspector. It is going cost us $24,000 to have the old sand removed and replaced with the correct sand.
We have tried to contact Mark Preston, but he has not returned any of our requests.
I suggest anyone who built a house or moved into a development where the sand was supplied by Preston in the past ten years, have their septic sand inspected. If you are thinking of purchasing sand from Preston, I suggest you find another source.
