I am a dog breeder and have been searching for the right girl to add to my kennel. I thought I found what I was looking for at Razzle Dazzle Labradors but I was mistaken.
A champion sired litter out of a fox red female. So I inquired about this liiter and the very first question I asked was did the parents have their genetic testing and hips and elbow's OFA'd. She said yes and that both sire and dam were clear for Exercised induced collapse(EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy Disease(CNM), Degenerative Myelopathy(DM) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy(PRA).
So I asked about a coat color generally referred to as silver and the dam carries it but he sire did not carry the gene. So genetic testing would have to be done to determine which puppy carried the gene. She agreed to the testing as long as I paid the extra fees. I agreed because of all the other clearances done on the parents. [continued below]....
..... Those are tests that I would not have to do and it would save me a bundle.
So I put the deposit and extra fees down in the late evening. That night my husband had a traffic accident. So the every next morning I asked for a refund because we knew we would have all these extra expenses to cover and did not know if a $1950.00 puppy was in the budget. I was told sorry but I don't refund deposits and I already mailed the DNA swabs to have the testing done. So in less than 12 hours she had managed to get DNA collection kits and mail them in. So I sucked it up and found the extra money needed to repair the car and still get the puppy.
So two weeks go by and still no word about the tests. I does these genetic test regularly. The never take over 10 days. So I ask Brooke about the tests. I am told she does not know and will have to call the DDC to find out the hold up. So the next morning I have a message that the DDC never got the order. So somehow a pre addressed envelope with a 250 dollar money order is lost in the mail.
So she sends them in again and I wait. During this time(4 weeks) I am also asking about those certificates you get for the other tests. The ones done on the sire and dam. She still had not sent the proof. I have to have those to prove my new puppy is clear by parentage for those diseases. Finally she sends me the certificates. So i look through them. The only stuff I received were the sires OFA information and only 2(EIC and PRA) out of the sires 4 tests. Not one single thing on the dams side. So I ask again and was told sorry they were upstairs and she would have to do it later. I had only been asking for 4 weeks and now wait again.
So after another 2 weeks of waiting on DNA tests for coat color I get a message that was forwarded for the DDC to Brooke. Word for word it says "Brooke this is in regards to your order for 4 tests. The lab came back saying that there was not enough DNA on 3 of your 4 dogs." Well you can imagine my surprise when I had first pick of FIVE female puppies and had agreed to pay the extra 250 dollars to pay fr FIVE dna tests. She says "OMG I will call and find out what is wrong. I sent in five and six other tests to be run on my other dogs".
So at this point I am pretty fed up with the run around and lies and asked again for the health certificates and she never responded. So I demand a refund after a few days. After all the back and forth and waiting and lies I nolonger trusted the breeder. She says sorry again but I don't refund deposits period. Then later when I start a paypal dispute because she lied about the product she was selling me she decided to refund me only the deposit and not the extra I paid because that was for the genetic testing. Paypal does not provide any help for transactions on animals. So she got away with it.
So I paid $250.00 for her genetic testing and I don't get my pup. Then she turns around and uses those DNA test, I paid for, to sale her pups at a higher price because she did the genetic testing!! So not only did she keep my money but she profited from it too!
Lesson learned! Always get the proof before putting money down! People lie!
