After a 1 night stay at the Red Roof Inn, and checking out with a credit card, I checked the website of my card and to my dismay, the charge was $10 higher than the agreed price including taxes. I called the Inn and was told they will refund that in 7-10 days in case I had any local calls or rented movies.

In this electronic world, I can promise they would know immediately if either happened. Think about it: there are 325 Red Roof Inns (per their website), assume 200 units per property that is 65000 units available every night. Now assume 70% occupancy rate that amounts to 45,400 units per night being charged $10. They now have $454,500 for 10 days to use as they wish with no cost to them! And that my friends is a RIP OFF.....

Red Roof Inns do take an additional amount ontop of your bill. This is explained on the registration form You Signed. (Read the fine print) If you have ever ate at a nice resturaunt the also do the same. The reason it takes 10 days (in some cases) is because of you bank not Red Roof Inn. When you use a credit card it is put back on the next day. Banks are much slower in this process. You bank can take up to 2-weeks to release the money back. In no way shape or form are we making money off of this. If that where the case many class action lawsuits would have been filed and it would be public knowledge. To many consumers they understand this. But many want to call and yell. Especially the one night standers. Usually because they dont want there wife to find out that they are cheating. Many corperatly owned hotels do this. Take my advice and read anything you sign particularly in the hotel industry.
