When looking for a rescue to work with stay as far away as possible from Amy Norris of Red's Domestic and Farm Animal Rescue. I will list the reasons in bullet format

  • Amy is a regular at the Shipsy Auction in Indiana, she uses an alias to dump horses in the middle of the night in the kill pen

  • Countless individuals that trusted Amy as a rescue and gave up their animals to her cannot find out where their horses have gone. Amy will not respond to emails or calls and quickly blocks them from her Facebook to avoid answering questions.

  • Amy has admitted to having a close relationship with a man that sells directly to the slaughter buyers. She has a regular working relationship with him, sending horses with him to avoid the kill pen at shipsy and flying under the radar.

  • Amy has neglected horses in her care because she is running out of options. Two horses just recently left her property that lost 200+ lbs in 21 days. In the new rescue that have average a weight gain of 1-2 lbs a DAY.

  • Amy will manipulate and sweet talk those in vulnerable situations in order to obtain as many free horses as possible in order to turn a profit. She is in this simply for the money. Please do not trust this woman with the care of your horse.

  • If your buying from Amy you should be aware she will lie and cheat and pass on a dangerous horse just to line her pockets. Often a sickly low weight horse will be sold as kid proof yet when the horse is back to health the true horse comes out she has sold horses as broke that had never been ridden, risking the safety of the owner and their children.

Flat Out Lies!

AUTHOR: MisfitAcres - ()

POSTED: Thursday, September 12, 2013

This report is a flat out lie! I received the horse in skinny and underweight! I had the Equine Dentist out here Greg VanderWaal who had to pry the horses jaw open due to his teeth being so bad (the hooks were preventing him from opening his mouth). Once Greg got his mouth open he had to actually cut the hooks off with special tooth pliers before the teeth could even be floated. Mustang Valley aka Stephanie the lady who filed this report knew all of this because not only did she get the medical records I had on him but she also got the hooks that were taken off. The reason she is trying to start trouble was because I gave her an Arabian gelding under the agreement that if she no longer wanted him, he was to come back to me. Since we were friends, I didn't feel that I needed a contract. I was wrong! When Stephanie and her friend came here to pick up the TB for me (I was sick and going back in the hospital for more treatment so I needed homes for the horses) I asked her about my Arab gelding and how he was doing. Stephanie then proceeded to tell me that she gave him away to her neighbor! That was when I got angry and we had words. Our agreement was that he was to be returned to me. She did not honor our verbal agreement. So with her having an attitude over our fight, she starts bashing me to get sympathy on the horses and used it as a ploy to get donation money. I have pictures of the horse getting his teeth floated 2 days after I got him. The pictures show he was not that skinny when I had him. The horse got skinnier after she took him! The horse later died in her care! So I am not the one to blame here. I have the records to prove my care of him. The horses were treated for lice when they got here as they came in that way. The horses no longer had lice when they were given to Mustang Valley. She was informed of everything I had done for them and then tried to use that to make herself look better for the donations. When people dump their horses off on me, I Never promise a forever home! I always tell people that I will fix the problems and rehome them. I ask the previous owners if I may give out their info to the new owner. That way if the new owner wants to get a hold of them they can. If the new owner doesn't want to then that's fine too. But once an owner relinquishes their horse, they are no longer entitled to know where that horse is or anything unless the new owner chooses to contact them. As far as the horses that were put into the loose pen at Shipsy, those were not my horses. A friend of mine who lost her job back when all the cutbacks were being done by GM and the companies that were affected went down, Kelly took the buyout. She paid off all her bills with the money. She was collecting unemployment and taking the summer off so she could ride and play with her horses. She had over 20 horses that she would buy, sell, trade, etc. (It was a hobby of hers) Anyways, there was a paint gelding in Iowa that she wanted really bad. I told her not to get him. She didn't listen. She got him anyways, paying a lot of money for him, the shipping etc. By the time it was all said and done, she had put $3,500 on a credit card for him.  When the paint gelding arrived she was pleased. She let him settle in for a couple of weeks before getting on him. When she did get on him and tried to take him down the road, he bucked her off and hurt her back. She had to be rushed into Emergency. The horse had crippled Kelly's back in a nut shell. She couldn't look for work due to this. The unemployment ran out and she couldn't make the credit card payments. They seized her bank account. So with no money she was filing for disability. She was denied the first time. Her son who still lives at home was no help financially because he doesn't hold a job. So Kelly was trying to support them both. Since the credit card company seized the bank account she had no way of even cashing a check. So I put Kelly on my savings account. She had me haul her horses a few at a time to Shipsy. Now for all of you who don't know how Shipsy works...If you are not there to walk/ride your horse through the saddle ring, the horses are put into the Loose Pen (which everyone calls the kill pen) and Shipsy just runs the through loose hence the name. Unless you pay someone who works there to walk the through the saddle ring. Kelly didn't have any money so they went to the loose pen. They sent the check, so I would deposit the check into my savings account and then her son would drive her into town and she would get the money to pay bills. I did this for her for 2 years 2009 and 2010 until she was finally awarded the disability. Kill buyer’s purchases horses from both the loose pen and the saddle ring. So anyone that brings a horse to auction regardless of what pen they are put in are subject to being purchased by kill/meat buyers! Kelly went on Facebook and was sending her story out to people trying to tell them the truth since I was getting slandered for doing this. People started attacking her, causing trouble at her farm and such. So she pretty much dropped out of sight. You people who live and thrive off of causing drama and lies need to be ashamed of yourselves. You never want to see the real truth behind why things are done and you only want to believe drama and lies. I was brought up to help my fellow man. And help is what I do. And if that means hauling horses to Shipsy so a friend can eat and pay her bills then so be it! You all sit back and think what would you do in that situation if you had no way to work and had no way to feed your family??? You know you would do what you had to do to survive. So please think about these things before you just continue to pass on drama and lies!
