I have perfect credit.  Regions bank for a loan on a van, continually had sent me the monthy invoice late, actually 1 or 2 days before it is due( i have th post marked envelpoes to prove it), so once I realizedd they were doing that to charge an extra $35 for a late fee, I would send  the payment in myself earer or when it was actaully due.   Recently they dont even send me a payment invoice.  I called and they claim that soemone caled to change the address. I have lived in the same place same address for 5 years, since before this loan!
Now they  are saying I missed a payment when I have cashed checks from their company!  Threatening to ruin my perfect credit, and lets face it good credit like mine today is rare! so these idiots are going to mess mine up because they want to charge everyone late fees to increase their revenues by ripping  off people that are responsible and want to pay!!!!
hard working people that are responsible these days seem to get the shit end of the stick. Why wont help me Howard, ore the business bureas realize this fale business for extra fees ??? Hopefully soon!

no more "grace" periods..

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

I have noticed this. You get a fee even if you are late by 30 seconds. There was a time when they gave a grace period but no more. Greed and desperation has changed all that.

I would never depend on the bank or the postal system to care if i get a fee or not. So I try my best to pay early. I also request paperless so I am always notified by email when the payment is due...and typically they will notify you at least 2 weeks in advance.

On a side note..from what I understand and I could be wrong..the postmark on the payment if you use snail mail matters. If what you state in this report is true this case is a slam dunk. Present the post marked bills they are sending, and request the post marks from the payment you made, and forward it to the FTC for starters.

Be smarter then them.

Get Ready for More or Worse...

AUTHOR: Bman - (United States of America)

These practices are systemic, and perhaps going to the bank in person would be easiest, though most annoying way to handle this continuous problem? Then change banks ASAP. Ideally join a smaller bank or credit union which will appreciate your diligence. I would also file a report at this government site:

Several options here to solve your problem

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

There are several things you can do to solve this problem, but you need to know how credit reporting and scoring actually works.

Unless your payment is a full 30 days late, it does not affect your credit score, as it is not reported to your credit as a late payment.

And, I have never seen a late fee charged unless you are like 10 days past the "due date".

Anyway, you have several options here. Set up an automatic payment online with the online banking from your bank. This is a service that almost every bank offers and it is usually FREE. No more late payments! No more late fees! Solved.

Or, since you have great credit, just refinance that loan with another bank.  Again, real simple solution. Problem solved.

Or,better yet, make up some payment envelopes ahead of time since you know what the due date is, right? You know your account# right? You know the payment address, right?? Well, WHY do you have to wait for a statement in the mail in order to make a payment? The answer here is that YOU DON'T! Just mail your payment 5 days prior to the due date and you will have no problems with late fees or damage to your credit.

It seems to me that there are several viable solutions here that would totally solve your problem.

No rip off. Just a minor inconvenience.
