Here I am fighting my own battle of this big corporation base on their policy and what seems to be an illegal practics against their transfer employees, plus  other unfair action taken us.

I tell you my story  which I am sure a large number of the thirty five thousand [35000.00] employ by Regis Corporation can related to, you be the judge!

Comapany: Regis corporation, is made up of several divisions, I joined the Super Cuts division in  April 2006, the company policy stated that after working three years you have earned two weeks  vacation pay, in April 2008 I requested a tranfere to the Smartstyle division.

With the permission of the divisional supervisor I was release to Smartstyle along with all my earned benifits Health, Dental,Eye, stock,401k, all these benifits remain in forced  because I was still working for and been pay by the same company, Regis Corporation, [Right?] .

In April 2009 I was due two weeks vacation, pay so I made the request to my dismay and suprise I was only given one week pay, when I ask why that was so I was inform by  top managment that in 2008, when I was transfer, I came in as a new hire with some of my benifits but not my full  earned vacation pay.

I pointed out to them if this was correct how comes my other benifits continue from 2006 to 2009 I was told because I am still in the system, I also notice that on April 24/09 my hire date was change from April 2006 to April 2008, I have been inform that this is a practics Regis has been using to  denial Vacation benifits to  tranfere employees who has work for them many years, most of us are women and single mother, we need justics!

Some other unfair practics that need to be stop:Unlaw full dismissal, recently we where shown a video about why we should not joined any union each of us was given a form to sign myself and a another employee refuse to sign this form as a result both of us have been subjected to contant warning and write up for just about everythings, For exmple I am a commission pay, not hourly but today I was dismissed by the regional manager on  charges that I work off the clock for 15min and that I took more than 30min lunch break.

Just this week two stylists where force to quit or be terminated because business is slow and they where not making the 40% and the company did not want to continue to pay them wage, what was distrubing they where put on one day per week schedule ,but the company was also telling them that they could not be employ as a hairstylist anywhere else per Regis policy.

We can not all have our own business, so so welcome other who are able to proved needed jobs, but please remember that we bring to the table our skills and willingness all we ask of you is to treat with dignity and as professional and pay us all earned benifits and at least 50% of what we make behind the chair, and when we sell the retails stop trying to find ways to denial us the earned 10%.

To all the hair Stylists that worked for Regis corporation and can relate to these unfair business practics and  discriminatory compensation decision, remember if we dont stand for somthing we will fall for everything, please add your voice and cry out for justics only then will changes comes.

same things different state

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, January 29, 2011

when i was reading your comments all i could think was this sounds just like the regis salon i worked for in another state. the rules were constantly changed whenever they felt like it pertaining to anything, for example weeks you earned for vacations how much retailpercent we were suppose to achieve. one month it was this the next week it was that.and nothing ever given to us in writing.we were constantly being written upand threatened of being fired if we didnt follow the rules. it was very stressfull not to mention most of the employees had been there well over 10 yrs!!!!! they were too afraid to say or do anything because "you cant fight corporations"! its sickening the way they hold hard working employees hostage and get away with it. they constantly hired ppl that didnt know how to cut hair and didnt bother training them. we lost business cuz of that but the loss of business was always because "we had terrible customer service"! ya ok. i started out in full service over 20 yrs ago and never have been accused of bad customer service. needless to say i was able to get out of there but many of the girls are still there putting up with that companys crap. I will never work for anyone owned by regis corp again!

RESPONSE TO "DISAGREE"

AUTHOR: truthbetold - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, October 03, 2010

Karen, you say you have been working for this company for 9yrs, and they are fair and they offer a base pay, if you don't make commission. However the part of that you are neglecting to tell is that if you do not make commission and end up on "None- coverage" your hours will be cut and/or you will be written up, or even terminated. I worked for them for 3 years and fortunately I never fell under the non-coverage bull, but they do sell you on that nonesense with out telling you the down side to that. I have seen age discrimination, them firing people in order to hire someone with less experience and that is hungry and willing to accept that lie.

It is true that if you do make commission over 40%, which is darn near impossible with them raising the amount you have to make to get even 45% every year. But when you do make over the 40 mark the first half of the month and you don't make it the second half they then take back the 5% on the second half so instead of the 40% you made you are now at 35%, and that is justified by the idea that we only get paid once a month the first check is considered "pay advance" so it negates the fact that you bust your tale to get that 45% in the beginning of the month.

And the minute that your checks look like something, they hire all these people that push you back. Not only is it the stylist that are getting a bad deal but the customers who are actually "just work on an assembly line" and we are working that conveyer belt to the best of our ability. If you take to long on one customer you will miss out on the others that are sitting there so you are rushing to save your commission (which really could just add up to be 10 cent over minimum wage), and your job.

Here is another way to look at this you bring in 1000 for them you see 400 minus taxes. You do a wash and cut, for 14.95 and you get 5.98. If you do an all over color and highlights, conditioner on short length hair and flat iron it you are charging 123.85, you get 49.54 of that. But you do it cause you need to have a job but only to be under appreciated, and your customers to feel neglected cause in between this time you have to clean your shelves, stock, answer phones, ring out retail and try to get another haircut in there so maybe you can pay a bill. And while you are doing that pray that the person with the bleach on there hair doesn't over process.

No lunch break, no 15 mins, cause your afraid with all the people working in there you may miss a cut or eyebrow wax, or you are unable to go cause its so busy that your manager tells you to wait and by that time your shift is over. Schedules change when they feel like it so you can't make any plans. And your job is constantly being threatened, do this or loose your job. Only to get fired or force to resign before you get to that 2 wk paid vacation. They have so many black out dates that everyone is going to have to take there vacation at the most inopportune time of year. mandatory meetings that push u into non-coverage, mandatory classed that you are clocked in for and are not paid for, mandatory inventory that you are not paid for.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP US!!!

disagree

AUTHOR: karen - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 09, 2010

I strongly disagree , i`ve been in management with regis for 15 yrs. myself and my superiors have always conducted business with the utmost integriety. For stylist there are always other options like independent salons , they do not generally offer any wage except commission , meaning you could work 8 hrs and not make one cent if no clients come in. We do offer a base salary that some stylist are content to make forever. The company is not perfect but neither is bettys beauty barn. I`m very proud of the job that myself and my supervisor do , as are my staff of 9 that have been with this location for between 1 and 9 yrs.

WE NEED A LAWYER WHO IS HUNGRY

AUTHOR: AFTERLIFE - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 02, 2010

We (Past as well as present employees of REGIS)  Need some guidance from an agressive HUNGRY ATTORNEY.  THERE IS SOME $$$$$ TO BE MADE BY THE RIGHT ATTORNEY.

I WAS TOLD BY AN AREA SUPERVISOR THAT THERE ARE OVER 14,000 SALONS IN THE US, CANADA AND ASIA, this could be an over exageration but pretty close.  Think of all the employees this company has done wrong....  Unethical and in my opinion ILLEGAL.  They kept my last weeks vacation pay as I was out in hospital on FMLA.   All the meetings that were UNPAID  Timeclocks adjusted by the managers the list is endless........  How about being out disabled in hospital  on FMLA and told that if I didn't return by Dec 5th I would be punished.  Who are these people and how are they getting away with  operating like this.

President Obama's new tax laws will take affect  in 2011 I hope they eat REGIS UP.

THIS WEB SITE IS GREAT BUT IT IS GOING TO TAKE MORE.........ANY IDEAS?

LETS BOND TOGETHER and KNOCK THEM OUT!YES WE CAN!

AUTHOR: Elaine - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 02, 2010

I am happy to see more stylists stoping by, as I said changes will only comes  when we speak out, and I hope more stylists will use Rip off and other form of public meduim to let the clients know some of the real reasons why each time they visit one of Regis Corportation  salons or Rattna Corp otherwise know as [Hair Cuttery] why their favorites stylist is gone .

And them sayng to themself and friends about the excellent skills  and attitude these stylists, have, we are asking  of you to stop supporting companies like these that's continue writing unfair policies that allowed them  treating us this way and  and get away with it.

Taking   the bread out of our children mouths. While we are working our a*s off for peanuts , the fat cats, are  eating cavier andf smoking cigars at our expense, that would be cool with us if we where getting our  earned fair share! We as stylists need to fully 'UNDERSTAND'with'out us there will be no "CAVIER or CIGERS, for these FATS cats, we all need to send them a clear message by staging a no show during one of their HIGH SEASON, bond together on this mission and see  the 'RESULT'

WE NEED UNIONS TO PROTECT AGAINST THESE CROOKS

AUTHOR: AFTERLIFE - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 02, 2010

I WORKED FOR REGIS FOR 3 YEARS    Went on FMLA they "LET ME GO" during my FMLA I have contacted EEOC, OSHA    not a MSDS book in any of the REGIS shops I ever worked in...  IN my opinion they are homophobic age discriminators.  If your over 40 forget it....    A UNION IN FLORIDA IS NEEDED to protect THE PROFESSIONAL generating the cash for these idiots.

The women in HR/LEGAL dept are incompetent jerks  who should all be fired they have no compassion for the stylist ...JUST BAD ATTITUDES   A class action law suit needs to be filed..  I never got my last week of vacation pay and these crooks get away with it..    WELL   NEWS is that their stock is down and they are losing money!!!!! They will get their payback when they cant find anyone to work for them... WE NEED TO PROFESSIONALLY BOYCOTT by refusing to work for $6.00 per hour plus tips, no breaks, but the cover their a*s by making you check a box when you clock out that you took a break,,,,  They are so dishonest, IN my opinion President Obamas new Tax Laws will give these people what they deserve

PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND TALENT WORKING FOR THIS SLAVE SHOP-WE NEED A UNION IN FLORIDA TO PROTECT THE PROFESSIONAL FROM CROOKS LIKE REGIS, IN MY OPINION THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OWN A SALON UNLESS YOU ARE A LICENSED COSMETOLOGIST -NOT JUST A FAT CAT WITH THE CASH TO EXPLOIT IT WORKERS

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

one day a week ...

AUTHOR: professional stylists - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, November 22, 2009

I was a manager for this company for a little over two years. They cut you down to one or two days a week like that when they are trying to get rid of you. That way you quit and they don't have to fight you on  unemployment benefits.

I really don't think as many people would go to these salons if they knew how little the stylist is getting paid. 40% if they are lucky and now new hires only make 8% on retail sales, if they make comission on services.

Lets just break down how these stylist are getting paid. Minimum wage is $7.25 an hour in Indiana. So a stylist has to make 2.5 times her hourly to make commission which is 18.13 an hour. A shampoo, cut and blow dry is $17.95. So they almost have to talk you into a coditioner to make their hourly goal. If not then they need to average two cuts per hour in the chair to be paid 40%. So, if you get a shampoo, cut and blow dry with a $1.00 detanlger from your stylist and she is able to make that average per hour she will make $7.58 for that service. Then she is taxed on that!

These stylist go to college for this, they have daycare, they have lives!

To make 50% they have to do over $4000.00 a month in services behind the chair! On a 40 hour work week that is an average of $25.00 an hour behind the chair. And IF a stylist gets to that point it isn't long before the manager is told to hire more staff. This way the company doesn't have to pay out that higher wage because there are more stylists to take the customers, lowering everyones wage!

It is all about the numbers. And the stylist always ends up on bottom.

Go to a local salon where the stylist is a booth renter at least she has a fair shake to make more money for her family and the booth rent goes to a local person not some big wig in an office in Minnesota some place! Or some supervisor driving a company car, getting her meals provided for her treating these employees like dirt.

It is our job as Americans to know how the money we spend is being used by the companies or persons we are giving it to.
