Jeff Alberts, Ride Ops Mgr, Reithoffer Shows, Orange Unit ,813-230-4518 (C), Pat Reithoffer, Owner, 516-707-7120 (C) Misclassified Raleigh, North Carolina State Fair workers as independent contractors. Paid workers half of money due and left town without leaving contact No., Refuses to provide W-2 or 1099 showing wages earned. Will not pay back wages overdue.

Reithoffer Shows ran the NC State Fair midway from October 15th to October 24th 2004. R/S offerred temp carnival workers a 10 day contracts paying $550.00 total. I began work on 10/14th (11am - 8pm)and worked thru 10/22 (10am - 6pm).

Raleigh Police investigating theft of vehicle tags at the state fair arrested me on 10/22 @ 6pm for suspicion of the theft because a tag not belonging to me was found on my vehicle. All allegations of the theft against me were dismissed, never tried and I was released.

Reithoffer barred me from returning to work because of the incident. I was not allowed to return to the fairground to pickup my check. Reithoffer left town without paying me. Contact was made with Jack Stoorza, office mgr, Reithoffer Shows and Jack agreed to send payment.

I returned my Reithoffer ID card to Reithoffer by certified mail to the address given me by Jack. I requested return payment of $50.00 security deposit due me be included with my wage payment. Wages averageed $55 p/d and I worked 9 days from the 14th - 22nd. I was due gross pay of at least $495. I received a postal money order from Jack for $238.

No written explanation was give along with the money order how Jack determined the $495 wages earned became only $238.00. My address and phone number has not changed. I contacted Jeff Alberts and explained my dilemma and he said he could do nothing about it until April 2005. I contacted the owner Pat Reithoffer who said call him back in April as well.

On April 12th I contacted Pat Reithoffer and he said he'd have Jack get in touch with me for payment. Jack had avoided me for 6 months and has continued his pattern of no contact with me. The Gibsonville office contact number (8136774856) given on the internet has reached a recording for 5 months that says someone will return calls. No one has. i've contacted Mike Rios at the US Labor Department over 100 phone calls to file a complaint in Florida with USDOL. Mike hasn't answered my calls to him. I'm ripped off.
