The letter instructs me to call the number on the letter to process the check and the check is to pay the taxes for a much larger check $ 96,060.00 I will recieve once the process of the smaller check is completed. I called the bank (citibank) of the check to verify if check is valid, the account is valid but the teller could not confirm to me if the company name on the check is the account holder. I then called the company who's name is on the check and they said NO they would not and did not issue this check.
Bottom line, this is a SCAM! Don't let your vulnerability cause you to react to suddenly. Check everything you can about a check that mysteriously comes in the mail. Nowadays no one is going to give money for FREE!
