University of Phoenix is a joke. The way they conduct business is cut-throat. I orginally signed up for MBA program and I completed one course. My next course, I failed (only attending 3 days of study) because I put little effort because I was not strong enough to go through personal issues and complete my obligations at the same time. This is where the problem came in...Phoenix signed me up for another attempt at the class that I failed, automatically by my advisor. I attempted the course ofcourse and asked to be withdrawn after 2 attendances for courses. This all happened in 2007 and now it is 2012 and I just completed paying of a bill that has be a charge off on my credit report for a long while. I know it is best to pay what you owe on your credit but I fought this off until the end and lost at the end. Why do they conduct a cut throat business- The 3 day attempt cost $1563 and the 2 day attempt cost$1196. They did not bend on the cost I owed at all albeit I only attempted not even 5 days of course study in both school periods. This is a rip off and I have stopped many; family, friends, co-workers of the past and present to never attend this university and advise others not too. Any real university at least allows the first week to recieve 100% refund on courses, no harm no foul. I was not eligable for financial aid because I did not attend class long enough so the payment for the courses fell on me. I properly withdrawn from the courses and still owed money. Most start of by saying, "you knew it was expensive" "why didnt you read the policy". Although expensive, I was unaware that they charge by the day instead of the semester, hence why you have to pay regardless how many days you attend, even one day. This is a dirty organization for charging for schooling by the day and not offering lower payment for online study if one only attended 3days and 2days of ONLINE study.
