Renovation Experts - Renex ripoff Extortion fraudulent billing dishonest employees Dartmouth Nova Scotia

This all started when I signed up for their contractor service.(Now remember, I was working for a company who authorized the signup of this service.) In the initial contract all it sad was: I ( meaning the company that I worked for Marty Abshire Construction) needed to cancel their service 30 days in advance. I did, and they still have tried to collect $72.00 from me (Not my Company) for a year now. Now, if I owed them I would pay them. But it's the principal of the matter. Then today I got a letter from one of their sales reps telling me I owe them $1,400.00 and I must pay installments or they will take legal action against me. They won't even respond to me and explain where they came up with $1,400.00. Stay clear of this company. Plus they don't do any kind of checks on the contractors they work with, and I have heard lots of complaints of contractors running of with peoples money and renovation experts didn't care.

Below is actual letter and my responses.


Dear Gabriel A.;


You were to have paid the amount of $1400.00 USD (the Debt) to Renovationexperts.com on 11/8/2005 and this Debt remains outstanding despite my requests for payment. The Debt relates to membership fees owed to Renovation Experts lead referral service.

Without prejudice to my rights for full recovery of the Debt I am prepared to accept installments of $100 USD until the Debt is fully paid, the first installment to be paid December 22, 2006 to Renovationexperts.com and thereafter on Friday of every week until Debt is paid. Failure to do this will result in your account being turned over to an external collection agency, who will initiate legal action against you.

Here is my response to the sales rep:

Show me a contract that says I owe $1,400.00. Your own collection department told me I only owed $72.00 and I have the letters to prove it. Plus I have the cancellation bill from your company showing that you perceive I only owe $72.00. My attorney and I are prepared to defend any legal action taken against me and we will counter sue for punitive damages. Furthermore, I was acting as an agent for Marty Abshire Construction, and that company, not I, is responsible for any money owed. The fact that out of the blue you decided to demand $1400.00 is ludicrous and insane.

Letter to the company:

Here is a copy of the letter from one of you reps, Danielle McGuire, along with my response. This is highly unprofessional, and she is trying to extort some amount of money that does not exist. I want you to know that I am prepared to have my attorney initiate this legal battle should it come to it, and I will be suing renovation experts if this is not handled swiftly. In fact, I no longer work for Marty Abshire Construction. As a previous agent of his company, I am no longer liable for any insane debt that you create. Here is their contact information:
