Coincidentally, there, the manager's name is also Ryan.
After a long and involved story, where I am represented by an attorney in regard to Rent-A-Center and they know they should call her- a rep from Rent A Center called me today, I think 'Tom'. I calmly described that I was represented by an attorney and his manager already knew this and verified that she was the person to call. Tom argued with me until I had to hang up. He then called back using 'caller ID block" (their number always shows up, this time is came as 'priate number'. I answered, it was the same rep. I told him tha the or his manager or the district manager or their attorney was to call mine. I hung up again. He called yet AGAIN and I had to hang up on him.
I then called my attorney and while leaving a voicemail for her, rent-a-center's number popped up as an incoming call on my 2nd line!!!
This all happened after 2 other calls in the morning, 1 from a 'Jasmine' and one from another rep asking me to call.
In total, this is 6 calls in one day.
20 minutes after the last call, the rent a center truck showed up at my house. They knocked for 10 minutes. They also TRIED OPENING THE DOOR, I watched as the door knob spun. (My front door has a bolt and an ornamental knob that just spins). That was SCARY!!!
So, the Ryan from this post has no idea of what he is talking about.

RentaCenter should be called what it is----Horrible

Tell your family and friends to tell RentaCenter---one time only that they will not accept any more phone calls from them and to put their phone number on a DO NOT CALL LIST..write down the date-time-name of person- and you may on your way to stopping your families discomfort...ITS an UNFAIR tatic that Rentacenter uses religiluosly by asking for references when you open an account with these guys. You may try a whistle after you hear them call again.....that really hurts!!!
Ryan from indiana is an idiot...his reply is that "you signed a contract" This guy was really brainwashed by his former RentaCenter bosses. I worked for RentaCenter over 8 years, in 5 different states and held many management positions----and am here to tell you thy are Horible to their staffs, customers, and customers families. I am glad NOT to be associated with them ever again. Now is the time to let consumers have an awareness of this company and its tactics.
Take the notes from your apartment complex that are on your door and peoples cars....SIMPLY ask your apartment manager to call the store and state this activity will no longer be allowed on their property.
Call the police and tell them you are being stalked by a RentaCenter employee while they are sitting outside and you need an officer immediately at your home.
RentaCenters revenue in 2007 was over 3 billion dollars from poor unaware US citizens in this country.
New Jersey is the only state to stand up and say RentaCenter uses loansharking tactics....awarded over 100 million back to former rentacenter customers in a lawsuit settled last year.
Wow....lonesharks-threaten-harass-set outside your house-and ask everyone in the neighborhood where they can find you......the only thing left for RentaCenter is to break a few legs.
I advise anyone to stop doing business with RentaCenter, or at the very least- KNOW YOUR RIGHTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You signed a contract.

2. Rent A Center charges such high prices because their business is entirely comprised of dealing with highly unreliable people that are known to be credit risks.
3. Knowing you couldn't go to a furniture store and get store credit, and that Rent A Center is a pretty bad deal because they deal with people that don't pay their bills, you signed a contract, agreeing to make payments on a certain schedule, that was outlined IN THE CONTRACT.
4. You could have returned the merchandise, in fact, under the law, you are technically in possession of stolen merchandise and in breach of your contractual obligations the day after you miss a payment, it's not "alright" to be late on your bills all the time and just tell them to shut up and eat it.
5. Rent A Center policy states that they are never supposed to call you more than twice a day, and only between the hours of 9 AM and 9 PM, anything more is harassment, so I highly doubt that they called "20 times a day".
6. Your payment schedule can be changed, but only if both parties agree and you sign a new contract with the new payment terms outlined, Rent A Center is under no obligation to do this, it is a courtesy.
And I know for a fact it wasn't "2 months later", because our store always got the payment schedules adjusted within the week, it's a lot easier to give the customer some slack than it is to go pick up merchandise or send the police out, or file a lawsuit. Our store manager bent over backwards, even giving out entire WEEKS of free time, for people that weren't paying their bills, it's a lot easier to eat one week than to lose a customer.
