I have used this facility before with no problems. I guess under different management. I know to pay off early or they will really make money off of you. I brought a couch and recliner used, I had 90 days to pay off. I didn't pay it off in 90 days. They do not inform you that your 90 are fixing to expire. I guess they wouldn't because that's when they make double amount of money on you. I think it is ridiculous that your not even given a fyi when your in there making a payment. They doubled their money on me. I guess they could have made tons more  money, but I caught it in time before they completely drained me. Everytime I would go in there to overpay on my account the next month the total payoff amount  would be greater than before. The manager, if you can call him that informed me when I was overpaying they was putting it in a so called "suspense account" still doesn't make any sense to me, but they would set this money aside like a saving account. Really, just put it towards the account that I owe. The staff that works there never can answer any accounting questions about the account. I recently paid it off and the staff member answering the phone gave me an incorrect balance again and I refused to pay at that time. I left a message for Tommy, the Manager to call me back.  The staff employee had the nerve to tell me that Tommy was very busy right now, therefore I told him if ya want my money he will be calling me back. The manager called me back shortly and the payoff was less than what was quoted by the previous staff member. My question is what would have happened if I paid what I was told the first time...sounds like something isn't on the up an up. The manager also had to nerve to asked me "what else he could sell me"...I told him that I will never purchase anything from this establishment again and that I would sit on the floor before I ever purchase anything from them. What have I learned from this experience is don't ever buy from these crooks and always, always, read the fine print and look closely to your receipts.

Not surprised

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

I was not surprised when instead of answering the question the OP came back with the "You must be an employee".  That is pretty much SOP around here when the OP has nothing to add and for what ever reason thinks that the "employee" claim discredits the person they don't agree with.  But it often has the opposite effect in just highlighting that the OP is really on shaky ground.

Well to put your mind at ease, I do not now or have I ever worked for ANY Rent to own type of store.

So why not just answer the question.  Why are THEY instead of YOU responsible for telling you when YOUR 90 days is almost up?

Payments

AUTHOR: RAChelp - (USA)

Hi, I work at RAC and Im sorry if there has been some confusion about your payments. An item is considered to be paid off when youve either paid the number of payments shown in your rental agreement or you work out an early  payoff option with your store. We absolutely value our customers. If you contact  our Customer Care line at 800-422-8186, we can get your account details and escalate the issue.

Really?

AUTHOR: maggstx - (United States of America)

My first comment would be "current employee of Rent A Center"

First of all their 90 day policy would be the same as any other place...Second if I'm standing at the counter making my payment with my account accessed wouldn't it be commom courtesy to just let me know...hey by the way are you aware this will expire on....

Bottom line lesson learned...thanks for sharing...

- Why is it THEIR responsibility to tell you when the 90 days is up?  You were there when you bought it weren't you?   I would hope that you can count to 90 so why not take a calender and figure out when the 90 days would be up?  Then just make sure you pay it BEFORE that date?

Perhaps it is that lack of personal responsibility explains why you have to go to a Rent to Own store in the first place.
