I called Rent A Center to ask about renting a table and chairs for a party. They took my personal information over the phone and delivered a table and chairs without any paperwork. My minor daughter was home at the time they delivered the furniture. They told me I can keep the furniture for one month. Just before the month was up, they called to ask if I wanted it for another month at a slightly reduced price. I said ok and they again charged my card over the phone. Another month was almost up when my phone rang again.
This time the guy on the phone said he was the manager, and if I purchased the table and chairs within this third month, I could purchase it at a reduced price. I said ok and one week before the 90 days were up, I called the store and asked to speak to the Manager, Brian. The girl who answered the phone said that Brian no longer works there. When I told her I want to purchase the furniture I have, she quoted me a much higher price. I told her that Brian quoted me a lower price and she told me that is exactly what Brian was fired for.
In the days following, I have lodged a complaint with their corporate center, promised a call back from the District Manager named Cornell Perry who has yet to return my call, and I am getting harassed daily from different callers from Rent A Center wanting to know if I am going to make my monthly payment. No one has noted my account and each caller is surprised to hear that I have been in dispute with the balance and terms.
I have asked them to come pick up the furniture and that I want nothing else to do with them. They still have not come to pick it up. Their new store Manager, Tony Ugaste, is completely incompetent and not capable of making a simple decision to offer me the furniture at the promised price or give any discount or do anything to make it right. I do not need the table, I do not have bad credit, I was simply using their service out of convenience for the holidays only. I will never work with this store again. They are in disarray. They need leadership!
