I have purchased from ren a center before. So I bought a computer for 605.00.

Get down to my last patment and they tell me that the money I had been paying , only 75.00 dollars go to the merchindise, the rest on taxes and ins. So you still owe us 254 dollars. And you have untill October the first to pay it all or you have to pay another 500 dollars for the computer. What do I do ?

I havent paid them since they told me this and now they are talking about taking me to jail. The Accounts Maneger told my husband that the paper work was a mistake.

Dealer Services Corporation's Ren'T'Own can make you a criminal in a New York minute.

AUTHOR: Rhett - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 30, 2009

An Ohio consumer protection agency says Rent-to-Own stores charge up to 4.5 times retail prices Policy Matters Ohio says rent-to-own law also allows excessive prices and fails to protect consumers.

Many of our lending laws and regulations protect consumers from unscrupulous lenders. For example, there are many statutory safeguards to prevent a lender from foreclosing on a consumer's property without adequate notice and opportunity to cure the default. The new "rent to own" scheme concocted by these hoodlums would sweep aside all of those protections in a moment.

William Clay (D-MO) introduced a bill aiding Rent-to-Own companies. The Rent-to-Own industry wants to skip the pesky Federal Truth in Lending Laws enacted to protect citizens.

The used car industry is buzzing about a bill in Congress that will allow them exemptions from Federal Disclosure Laws. House of Representative bill 1744 by Rep. William Lacy Clay was introduced on March 26, 2009 to protect the Rent-to-Own industry.

Why do they need help? It's the consumer that needs help when he pays $200 a month for 24 months for a used refrigerator. And because he can't pay the $800 balloon payment at the end his refrigerator gets repo'd.

And don't dare try and fight the rent-to-scam stores. They believe their rights include having a warrant issued for your arrest because you missed a payment on the 10 year old Maytag.

Be especially careful if you visit a used car dealer advertising Ren'T'Own or Lease'T'Own. These toxic loans will make you a criminal in a New York Minute.

Just listen how John E. Fuller, president of Dealer Services Corporation explains it:

"Ren'T'Own" automobile financing can separate a delinquent "renter" from his beloved car in a New York minuteno sticky consumer-protection laws to slow things down

"If your payment is not in my office by the due date or the car back on my lot with the keys, I will report the vehicle stolen and you will suffer the consequences," touts Dealer Services Corporation's partner Northland in literature to dealers.

CALL THE POLICE

AUTHOR: Shipwrecker - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 12, 2009

I promise you, this won't work in your favor.
READ braniacs rebuttal and it's pretty clear he is definitively NOT at the top of the intellectual food chain.
Been there, done that.
You call the cops while RAC is in your yard trying to recover what is rightfully theirs and they will most assuredly be walking away with it.

" yes officer, i refused to pay for there merchandise and I refuse to give it back.
yessir it's right inside." yeah....thats bright.

IT'S OK TO GRIPE...IT'S NOT OK TO GIVE stupid ADVICE.

BEST THING IS DONT ANSWER THE DOOR.

One more cuz I'm sick of the "read the contract"

AUTHOR: Exracslave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 23, 2008

Hey, account manager d****ebag....have you read the contract...do you actually understand the f**king thing? its not written in crayon, so i doubt it.
It is called in court, an "open ended" agreement...you f**king d****eface.
It was never meant to make any sense, except to retards like you who wanna pretend like you work in an office and have an important job.
An open agreement gives both parties the right to do absolutely NOTHING. Also, whn you turds spout that the rental agreement has expired...guess what? that means the s**t stays in my house and I owe you nothing. You have just stated, by law, that our business rlationship is over.
I won a case already, and I am gonna keep helping people win until you are jobless

dont listen to this high school drop out

AUTHOR: Exracslave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 23, 2008

Tell ya what buddy, just ignore them for 60 days...if they come to your door, call the cops. You have paid more than twice the value of the item, therefore, you won't even get taken to court. Rent a center is a huge joke.
They say they will take you to jail...they cannot. When they are standing on your porch...call the cops.....and call them right then.
It will put an end to these retards.....they all suck a*s, and deserve to be shot.
Once the 60 days is over, you have no worries my friend, it gets charged off

#1 UPDATE Employee

read your contract

AUTHOR: Cubswin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Sorry to tell you but in your contract it states the 90 same as cash price, PLUS TAX, and also did you really think that paying on insurance would go towards the payoff? One more thing, even though you may think its wrong, you MUST keep paying on the merchandise or return it. There is NO GRACE PERIOD. If you dont pay for it they will want to pick it up, just like your mortage or car.
