this is my problem. i had numerous things rented out through rentway. i have never missed a payment in almost 6 months. i actually was in the process of returning a tv and soundsystem back to rentway when a cemi truck hit me and i was knocked unconscious. when i woke up i was in the hospital to find hat my car had been taken to a tow yard almost a hour away, then the insurance got it and it went to a different yard. i called them and asked them if the merchandise was in the trunk, they said no, i went down and checked for myself it wasnt. i told rentway that it was stolen out of it and that it was not covered because it was not forced entry on my house. so i am responsible now for it. they call me about 10 times a day over and over and leave messae after message and it is ridiculous given the condition i have been in recently. i have not been able to use the phone very well and do much of anything. i dont know what to do, they left a message today saying that i needed to call them and verify which adress i wanted them to send the court papers to so i dont miss my court date or i will have a bench warrant out for my arrest. i dont see the point in the insurance if it doesnt even cover me in this situation. i cannot work so i cannot give them any money, and i cannot drive up and return the laptop to them that i still have. im a server so my money comes in daily and all that i saved up i spent on my rent. i dont know what to do please help me.

You are asking the public, what should you do. Think about it and the light in your head will come on. First, call them and have them pick up the lap-top, or get someone to take you there to turn it in. You imply that accident was the other driver fault. You wrote that they hit you. There would be insurance monies paid to you to cover bills without agreeing to a settlement.
You must have had a very large car to have fit a TV and complete sound system into its trunk.
When you go before the Judge and give them this story, I don't think the judge will give you any more sympathy than you will get at this site. Your entire report seems more about you seeking an angle of keeping the merchandise without paying for it.
