Specific examples so I don't sound like a whiner:
1. EVERYTHING is an upgrade or an add on.
2. Electrical is questionable
3. Warranty - well I have the BBB, the COHBA, the OKHBA, and an attorney all trying to get these people to honor the warranty they gave us. We used their process, had their inspector that I had to pay for come and verify, and then they still haven't done anything. This has been going on for over a year.
4. They didn't seal the doors into the house and because they didn't slope the porches away from the doors the rain ran under the doors and ruined 3000 square feet of custom wood floors...the floors are all buckled and horrible looking. We called in the floor guy that installed them, he told us that he told Richardson's Superintendent that they needed to seal the doors and that he believes all the floors need to be replaced. Richardson's of course is not in agreement with their own floor install company.
5. There are multiple other problems but none so expensive as having all the floors ripped up and replaced, and they also said if they did anything we would have to move out and that expense would be on us.
6. Dennis Lee the owner told me to sue him, that it wouldn't hurt him it would only hurt the people that he hired to build the house.
7. These people are the most unscrupulous, non-ethical, crooked liars I have ever ran across.
8. Our dream home has become our worst nightmare.
BEWARE - You've been warned about this company.

Oh, so we're not the only ones

First we were told it was due to excess rain, now we're told that they are shifting (4" away from the home foundation) due to drought. The pillars on our front porch are 2" down from the roof and 3" - 4" shifted forward. The stone front on our home is falling off the house. Getting them to honor their warranty is like pulling rotten teeth (PAINFUL).
I would love to see them photo feature their craftmenship by using a photo of our home. I suppose if you are looking for a disposable home, one that decomposes within 5 years, Richardson Homes is the builder for you. I guess our next step is contact BBB and an attorney.
We at Richardson Homes have been in business for over 19 years and have built over 1,000 homes. We take great pride in treating every future homeowner as if they are the only project we have going at that time and feel that we have done the same with family that filed this complaint and also stand behind every home we build for years to come.
As far as the complaints go: first off as with any builder their are upgrades but our homeowners are 1000% completely aware of any upgrades before they are even contracted much less in the construction process. After the construction process begins the homeowner is once again in complete control of any changes that are made on the jobsite and understand the cost of the change prior to change being made. Secondly, a home in Oklahoma does not pass code unless it has adequate electrical I am unaware of any electrical issues at this home. Finally, This home did have a leak and the wood floors did need to be fixed which I have done at zero cost to the homeowner (we at Richardson Homes even put the family up in two suites to make the time away from home go as smooth as possibe.) This home has passed an inspection performed by a COHBA hired inspection company and I am saddened that someone would post these type of comments most that are simply not true. Richardson Homes is a proud member of the BBB (with ZERO outstanding complaints) and the Central Oklahoma Homebuilders Association; both organizations would simply not allow a company to be in their establishments if statements like these were true and going ignored.
We at Richardson Homes take great pride in every single home that we build and I truely hope that this homeowner has changed their opinion of Richardson Homes. if you would like to talk about these complaints or the homebuilding process in general feel free to contact us at 405-381-0160 or visit our web @ www.RichardsonHomesOK.com

A very pleased individual with a new Richardson Home.

I have been very pleased from the digging of my footings, to the framing, the roofing and drywalling of my new home. Every detail has been followed by the
man who oversees the different contractors and the company has bent over backwards to see that everything my wife and I desire is not left undone. I have
been able to reach the office, the individual who oversees the building and have
always been treated with respect and concern. If you think that you can have a
custom builty home built without overages, you are very naieve. Since this is the
only time in my life I expect to have a home built for my family and myself, it is very
important to me to get the things we want in addition to the things we need. Again, if you think you can scrimp on this and that, then you will be very unhappy with the total outcome. Expect to have overages, and don't cry when you don't take the time to check into each detail at every step of the way. Otherwise, might
I urge you to go and look at homes you think will fill your needs, and buy one. Don't think that custom homes are for everyone, especially if you cannot afford one
like you want. The builder building my new custom home is Richardson Homes and
I cannot begin to express how much I respect them. I have no idea who Madengineer is, but he had to sign for every detail that he claims are a ripoff. As for the water problem, this has been rectified by the builder.
