I rode the bike a couple of times just to test it. On Sunday 16 October, not a week later, the bike began showing a FI light. I pulled the code and it was a code 62 "Subthrottle valve actuator malfunction, wiring open or short". I emailed the sales woman, also the owner, Dawn Unger to ask if she knew anything about it. She then told me when they took it in it had the same code and they replaced the computer and it was gone. After emailing a couple of times, she sent me a list of issues, 1/19/2010 timing inspection caps (recall/campaign) 9/14/2010 electrical diagnosis (regulator voltage) 10/28/2010 electrical diagnosis (stator) 04/04/2011 exhaust butterfly valve actuator (PROBLEM PART THROTTLE ASSY, TTK43, that had been done before. Including the repair they did and when I got it, the same problem has happened 3 times now.
I took the bike to my local dealer to get it checked out. While it was in the parking lot for the service guy to look at it overheated and blew all the coolant out the overflow. THe bike has been in the shop ever since. I picked it up on Saturday 7 January 2012 to bring it home after $350 to do nothing but tell me it needs a new $1400 Throttle body assembly. I decided to take it to another shop in town on 9 January 2012 to see if they would fix whatever is causing the same problem over and over again. While there, the light was off while running for the first time. The guy was laughing at me. I got on the highway and started to take it home. While on a freeway, the throttle locked full open while I was riding almost causing me to crash into a jersey wall at an exit. Now the bike will not even start and had to be towed, at my expense, back to the shop.
Lets add this up now.... $7309 for the bike, $660 shipping, $350 at the shop, $65 towing, $150 or so for title and registration, insurance for a bike I can't ride, TBD for the repairs coming up. The owners, Dawn and Harold Unger were slightly helpful at first but they have ignored me since 5 November 2011 and have ignored 3 requests from the BBB. Bottom line is they stuck me with a lemon and washed their hands of it. All I asked is they pay for the problem part and repair.
