Ritz Camera ,Ritz Interactive, Inc. Debit Card number stolen, company promised to refund purchase and then refused Beltsville Maryland

I have one debit card that I use for gift purchases. Being Christmas season and making purchases, I have used it quite frequently. I also check daily to reconcile the account to make sure that the purchases match my receipts. When I went on and checked the account on 12/10/08 I noticed a charge that did not belong to me. I called Ritz Camera right away telling them that it wasn't an authorized charge. I also told them that I was unsure of whether or not it was intended as a gift from my spouse, so I told the customer service rep that I would check and call him back. Which I did.

At that time, I told him that my husband DID NOT make that purchase and to flag the purchase as fraud. The customer service rep said that they had already done so and that they had contacted FedEx to have them reverse the shipment, sending it back to the Ritz location. I asked him twice to repeat it, each time he confirmed that yes, he was positive that it was being sent back and that the amount that had been charged to my card would be refunded.

I contacted the debit card company to notify them of the theft, at which point they cancelled out the card and issued me a new one. I later found out that the charge did clear my bank account and that Ritz Camera had not contacted FedEx to have the shipment reversed. The person who stole my information received the item that I PAID FOR. Ritz Camera reps did not care even a little bit, and here I am at Christmas time with less money in my pocket. Nice.
