I am writing this to let the world know that Robert M Girardi, originally from Berwyn, Illinois owes over $115,000 for his 3 daughters. The worst part of it is that he doesn't even keep in touch with the 2 younger girls. No acknowledgement of Christmas, birthdays, graduation, not 1 phone call. He does keep in touch with the oldest, not really sure why, maybe because she lives on her own now.
I have taken him to court, got a judgement for 1 year. Then I filed with the state of Illinois public aid department so they could collect for me. By the time all the paperwork went through (several months) he had caught on and got a job working for cash. Public aid can enter your SS # and see if there are wages reported in your name. Sorry he is not reporting any wages, I was told. So now file more papers for the States Attorney to get into court and file a "rule to show cause" (another few months)
The court date finally comes and he doesn't show up. Now another few months for the states attorney to get him served, so he has to show up.
By now a couple of years had passed and luckily for him he had a slight stroke and is in a rehab home, so they won't serve him there.
So now I learn he is released, and he is out at the Casino Boats, with his new girlfriend. Has enough money to gamble and go out on dates, but not to give a dime to his children. Whom in the divorce decree he is suppose to pay $114 a week, and provide medical insurance. So I contact the states attorney and tell her that he is out of the rehab center now, so can we go back to court? Weeks later she advises me that he has filed for Social Security benefits, and you can't get child support from that. I tried to get him on the Official Dead Beat Dads list for Illinois, or get his Drivers license revoked, I was told that because he is basically supported by the Government, that they won't put him on the list or revoke his license. I even wrote to Governor Blagojevich, explaining everything in detail with reference numbers to my divorce case and public aid case. The response from them was ... we can't do anything but tell you to file a case with your public aid office, and we can't put him on the deadbeat list, due to reasons we cannot say due to privacy laws. OK, something is not right here. Sounds like he is being protected by the State of Illinois for not paying his child support. They did say that if he files a tax return or wins the Lottery, then I could collect.
I have a great husband now who they consider their dad and takes care of my girls like they were his own. He is the one that will walk them down the aisle when they get married, he is the one that they go to when they need fatherly advise. I am very greatful for this, but I just don't think that you shouldn't have to support your kids because you have a medical issue. I have been battleing cancer for 16 years now and my husband has severe back problems, but we still support our girls.
The state of Illinois is just as bad as Robert M Girardi for not enforcing his responsibility to pay child support. If you happen to know him, please tell him you read this. If you have any morals tell him to step up to the plate and give his daughters some support, maybe they could use it for their college education.

How dare anyone make a comment on my credibility, the X wife. You heard what he wanted you to hear, not the truth. Yes, he did have cancer, stroke, etc. But I have been surviving with 4th stage cancer and treatments since 1991, all while supporting my kids. Maybe his illnesses has humbled him? Haha, no I think karma is a bitch bigger than I. First to clear up a few things, he lost "his" business because he gambled the money he took in, and scratched off the lottery tickets he was suppose to sell. To the point where his hands were silver like the tin man in the wizard of oz. So bankruptcy was filed. He did not support his family, mentally, physically, or financially. Not to mention he took out a 2nd mortgage on the house to pay gambling debts $25K which I (the x wife) had to pay!! Did he tell you how he constantly belittled his daughters with insults. What 11 year old needs to hear she is not good enough?? Did he tell you how he would get physically violent, throwing things, breaking my belongings, pushing me down while I was 7 months pregnant? Did he mention the year we went to gamblers annon while all the time he was still gambling? How about the bookies that came to my door on Christmas Eve wanting $2500? When he knew he was going to prison for 8 years, instead of putting his "profit sharing" away for his children, he took the 10K to the gambling boat? Is that what a real father does?
FYI, I did not have an affair, as he would like to think, because of coursem then the divorce is not his fault in his eyes. As nothing was ever his fault, it was always mine. Yes, I did find a "good man" but it was not until 6 months after we were separated. And in Cook County, it takes years for a divorce to be final. So are you saying that because he has had medical problems, he should not have to support his kids, financially or other? I am on disability, but still manage to support my children with the help of my wonderful husband who took care of 3 children he did not father? Funny that my kids call him dad, and Robert G is called sperm donor. I could go on and on about this, but its over and done. The girls know who loves them, and takes care of them in every way, and who they call dad, as they are all adults now.
They do try to have somewhat of a relationship with him now, but he could never even say "I'm sorry" to them for all the hurt he caused them? All those years he could not call and say Happy Birthday, or send a card. They do see him once or twice a year now, but its too little, too late. He was the adult, and should have acted as one. If you did not know him prior to 2002, you have no room to talk. He did everything he could to avoid his financial responsibilities then, and now. You think his $600 SSI supports him? No I think it is his girlfriend that does. I truly feel sorry for her, she is stuck taking care of him. He is and will always be a deadbeat dad, he could have been there for his kids before the illness, but chose not to. So if you want to talk on here, make sure you know all the facts.

I have known Robert Girardi since 2002. Since 2002, this man has had two recurrences of Hodgkins disease, 7 congestive heart failures and a major stroke which paralyzed the entire left side of his body. He continues to amaze me and his friends with his determination to survive. He walks with the assistance of a four prong cane and can not dress himself or even cut his own food. I have seen and heard him try to call his two youngest daughters who only insult him rather than ask him if he is okay or if they can help in any way. I guess if he can not pay child support, he is not "good enough" for their affections or even their respect.
Nothing is said about how is ex-wife was treated before 2002, how he provided for them and ran his own gas station and convenience store. Nor is it mentioned she married her husband's employee, with whom she was having an affair, and who stoled his business in the divorce. Those facts seem to be glossed over. But what is more increduous is that she wants Robert's $600 per month social security disability check he receives as his sole source of money, the only money he gets to pay rent, food, utilities and medicine. What a shame the ex-wife is so gracious in her relentless pursuit of her hatred. Anthony, Naperville IL.
