I finally, after dealing with his delay in services and acts of complete incompetence took my vehicle to a more capable source of service.
The following are just some of problems that were found out in his work that were substandard:
Engine Case Still leaking after numerous attempts to repair
Engine case was not correctly (Porsche Mandated Updates) inserted after rebuild and payment (A gold standard for this aluminum case is that your insert the head studs for these older vehicles if stud heads are pulling or for any vehicle with an aluminum case)
Intermediate shaft was pulling and visibly noticeable (after he had my engine out of the vehicle several times)
Oil modifications were not done (another mandate by Porsche for these older 911 engines)
Right side chain housing stud missing, sump plate gasket missing, rings were not compatible for cylinder walls, pistons and cylinders were gaulding ,air box pop off valve inserted backwards, injector seals wrong size, engine breather hose was hard and not replaced and not connected to oil tank, Transmission after rebuild, 1st gear synchronizer retainer gear bent (because he does not have proper tools to install them) not allowing 1st gear to work, 2nd gear speed bearing cage broken, transmission seals installed incorrectly
After reviewing his billing he charged me for parts that were not in line with todays prices on the bill. In other words he did not replace them and he used a 1980's parts list bill that does not coincide with todays prices.
He left numerous other areas not finished on the vehicle, scratched my paint, and let water into the floor boards of my vehicle by not covering up a Targa vehicle while at his property. I paid Mr Robert Shapinsky good money properly fix my vehicle, I would suggest to anyone to take your car elsewhere, he is in no way qualified to work on these particular cars. He may be good enough to change the oil but even then your taking a risk. I would appreciate whole heartedly a rebuttal from Mr Robert Shapinsky, however I know a person named (B. Farmer) that would personally take him to task on any of his abilities or insights on older Porsche 911's. I understand this is in many ways my fault for putting my trust in some old friends. However, the work that was done was sub-standard and he just should of admitted that he did not know how to do the work.
Again this is just some of major work that was found to be incompetent:
