Roma Rentals Company doesn't honor its rental agreement San Marcos, California

An apartment was rented in Rome Italy from Roma Rentals in with occupancy in February 2012 with the lease ending in mid May of this year.  It took almost five months after the lease ended for us to get (only) a partial refund of our deposit.  When we tried to contact them for an explaination, they would not answer emails or return calls.  Tina, the owner finally spoke with someone and promised the payment was forthcoming.  Several weeks later when the refund finally arrived the amount was reduced for utilities and cleaning which we expected.  We were assured that if the apartment was left clean (which it was) then the charge for cleaning would be only 50 Euros of the original 300 Euro cleaning deposit. 

Incidentally, the total deposit was 2350.00 Euros which they insisted upon  three and a half months before move in.  They charged 140 Euros for cleaning and 188.25 Euros for utilities.   We asked for an accounting of the charges and were promised it would come to us shortly in the form of the invoices for both cleaning and utilities.  We never received the paperwork proving the charges were legitimate and now Roma Rentals is ignoring our repeated calls and emails.  In addition, they charged us a higher exchange rate from Euros to Dollars than agreed.

This is not a company with whom we will ever do business again.   There are many rental agencies in Rome.  If you want to be treated fairly, try one other than Roma Rentals.
