They have your SS#. You must not give it out because these trashy companies will take you to a collection agency. Collection agencies have no right to sxist. Infinitely worse, the corporation turns your SS# to them, which you did not give consent to, because the company lied about the consequences of doing business with them. Usually, they will take refer your alleged debt to a collection agency with 5 business days. Really reasonable. If somebody owes me, I go at least 180 days and give the customer plenty of pleadings to work something out. I only go to court if I have been grievously wounded and the perpetrator will not be reasonable at all.
In other words, the algae scum salesman was bluffing. Even if he had your credit card {don't use them} or debit card { get through your bank and get the bank to change the 16 digit # after every transaction}, he had to get your signature on a contract of sale and safe delivery. In addition, the algae scum slaesman was lying because you will frequently be turned down any way for credit when you fill out one of those store credit card application forms. And, of course, if you don't buy, they can't force you to buy. Even if you buy, you can bring the merchandise back and they credit your credit or debit card.
But, what actually happened here? Was it in print that you could receive a refund in 30 days so long as the bed was undamaged and undespoiled? What was said by the sales representative and the manager in the presence of your lawyer? What did you tell your lawyer would be a satisfactory settlement to avoid ill will and what did your lawyer propose to the manager and the snottly salesman?
