i would like to start by saying bravo to the roomstore in general. I was just reading on my friends the roomstore and I came across this site just now. It has perfect timing for me because i am in the middle of a war zone down here.
i bought a couch about in may. 2007 and i financed this big baby till 2012. Awesome idea because the couch i am buying is bulletproof so i am told. my saleswoman lisa livermore cannot stress enough to me that this couch is the best fiber and can also withstand anything.
she said and i quote" you could sit on this couch with a screwdriver in your pocket and tear it open and it will be covered" wow i said to myself that is for me because i work construction and rough stuff happenes. i even bought 2 more years of this awesome warranty.
i sign with my wife and we are sold. great deal 2200 dollars for 5 years and if you miss 1 single payment by as much as 2 hours do you then get all the interest slapped on that baby. lucky for us we always pay on time. sorry i mean early. we always pay early.
so come to find out about 2 months ago we spot some tiny holes in the sides of the cushion. well our home is always clean and spottless. this stands out to my wife because this couch is in her name. she is now upset. so am i.
we call roomstore. i was over confident that i was going to save the day for my wife when i called because as you remember she said bulletproof. that baby is covered for everything and more.
the saleslady no longer works there. ok no big deal because as you see in your system roomstore, i am in there and have a warrenty i said. that doesnt cover holes in the fabric she said. now i am at a loss for words. i seen it coming. i was too trusting once more to my dismay. i didnt read the contract. the lady was so nice and friendly i didnt see a need. she was good.
i asked them if they could at least schedule us to make sure that it is us that was responsible for the holes. they told me that they would have a company get ahold of us in a couple of days. cool i said
sure didnt call if thats what your thinkin. Awesome let me stop my day at work and get on the phone with roomstore again because dont you guys remember. those hours for me are my income. dont you want your money.
remember that this story i am telling you has happened from about october till right now here tonight.
customer service tells me this time i call that if the lady in the store told me that holes were covered then it is the stores managers problem. he is now responsible. remember when i said she did not work there anymore, well that statement now hit me like a ton of bricks. there goes my only witness or proof not that she would have admitted it now anyway.
by the way i just scheduled my 2nd appointment to have someone look at the couch. ok they say we will set one up and call you in a couple of days. well i know you would have said no i want it now i am sick and tired of the runaround. but i am really patient and whatever.
they didnt call and at this point if you think they are gonna quit reading this because you are not getting me. i want only a trained couch fabric inspector at this point because i want to make sure it is us. store manager tells me when i call him that he cant help me because she no longer works there and they dont cover holes.
ok i will call customer service again why not. they schedule me another appointment. this being the third and no one showed up the first 2. cool we are ready please finally our savior he will find out he does this for a living.
it took him seconds to tell us that the fabric starch that they put on our wonderful microfiber couch becomes almost glue like in the heat and when you sit on a couch after this then the fabric tears ever so slightly.
then you remember how i told you that it was delivered in may. a little warm in those storage shed the expert tells me. happenes all the time i will order you 3 new cushions pronto and i will even come out and install them on the cushions for us at no extra charge.
finally a man of his d**n word. i liked him . he was from a small town like me. real look you in the eyes and tell the truth types. cool my wife is now happy and so am i. it was not us you see after all this time. finally he says as leaving. roomstorewill bein touch in no later than 3 daysand you are going to receive the new cushions after that.
called the roomstore today. it has been another 2 weeks and guess this ...no paperwork on their end. awesome i said remember thisis approximately 13 calls at this point. 30 dollars an hour . multiplied by 15 minutes minimum for the calls because of the ungodly amount of hold time. and i would say that the roomstore has cost me 112.00 dollars. .
i know its funny though dont forget 2 months of wondering and complaining added to our lives. the fact that we need this couch for a while and to last till we can at least pay the d**n thing off. i now hate the roomstore and everything it stands for. I do not blame the kids answering my calls and making 7 dollars an hour to do it. that is my people. the blue collar. i wonder however what the square footage of the owners house is compared to my mobile home....

I bought a living room set from Roomstore in 2004 and experienced the exact same thing!!! Sales lady sells us our couches, which I have scotchgarded and purchase the warranty to cover them for 5 years. She used that exact same line! "If you sit on this couch with a screwdriver and it makes a hole, its covered!" I thought, having 2 children, who knows what could happen so please, sign me up for the warranty! Later (like 1 year later) we find a hole in one of the corners of our cushion near the seam. I call customer service and oh boy, they can do nothing for me. They did give me the number for some other company which I'm assuming was the same company you had to call. They can't help me because they say the cushions aren't covered. "Even for a hole?", I said. They could send someone out to inspect my couch but it's going to cost me money to send someone out. I call roomstore and again, not their problem. I stopped because being a single mom and having to sit on the phone either at work or at home was not convenient for me at all. When I paid for a 5-year warranty I expected a 5-year warranty. And on top of all that, being 1 year later, the salewoman of course no longer worked there.
