The Rosemont Retirement & Senior Assisted Living Community in Yelm, WA  has just been justifiably and thus deservedly cited by The Washington State Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) for assisted-care resident health & medical condition monitoring failures.
 
The deficiencies discovered via unannounced DSHS investigation must be corrected by the institution soon in order for the elements of the citation to become considered as satisfactorily resolved.

My poor dear unfortunate and unwitting mother was a resident there until she was just recently made to unnecessarily suffer an absolutely preventable emergency life-threatening medical incident primarily due to components of disgraceful institutional neglect.  This dear frail helpless elderly woman was allowed to linger and languish in a rather listless, ashen & pale moribund state for several days while steadily exsanguinating from internal bleeding, and she therefore very nearly passed-away before her condition was discovered and identified as critical, severe, and emergent in nature.  She was subsequently rushed to the St. Peter Hospital emergency room where her life was saved quite literally "just-in-the-nick-of-time", and she presently remains hospitalized -- recovering and rehabilitating -- due to the ravages of the aforementioned tragic incident.

All those who ever have occasion to place elderly parents in an adult assisted living facility must become ever-wary, mindful, extremely careful, cautious, and vigilant in the process of researching, evaluating, and then selecting a suitable facility for a loved one, and the absolute bottom-line is simply this:  watch-out and beware !!!!

While I appreciate your corporate "rah-rah, patting-on-the-back" input, Lyndie .... and even if some of what you state is true -- in terms of "moving in a positive direction" and all that, like you've written -- the fact still remains that the incompetence, care-deficiencies, bad attitudes, and overall cavalier negligence attributable to Rosemont, was allowed to combine in such ugly and consummately-vile fashion as to create the horrible facilitation and unspeakable occurrence of my dear innocent mother's untimely and unnecessary death.   Bottom-line:  Rosemont is responsible for the tragic demise of my mother, Mayetta Donovan, whom under the guise of "professional" elder care delivery that she was unwittingly subjected to while a resident of Rosemont, led to her being allowed to die.  Rosemont was supposed to be acting in the capacity of her fiduciary, but instead ended-up ultimately becoming her executioner ..... and moreover, the primitive, weak, and archaic dinosaur elder-care institutional laws prevalent in Washington state allow nursing homes and assisted-care facilities within it's jurisdiction to effectively get-away-with-murder -- and for such an historically long-standing period -- as evidenced not only by Mayetta's unfortunate plight and attendant ill-fate, but with several other similar poor old folks whom were subjected to similar mistreatment -- or worse, in some cases -- leading to their tragic deaths while residing in various Washigton state criminally-operated and deplorably-barbaric elder assistive care facitilies scattered throughout the irresponsible state.  Oh my word .... oh sheit, and oh dear .... what a fortunate -- yet so very UNDESERVED -- legal-windfall of a big break for Rosemont, eh???  Sadly, at this juncture within the whole repugnant travesy, it d*****-well certainly appears that Rosemont has been able to luckily "dodge-a-bullet" .... in fact, one huge mammoth-sized bullet on this one, to be sure (sigh) .... but no one ever said that the world is fair, and for obvious evil reasons, of which Rosemont's willful negligence is indeed one such reason that's now officially in-the-books. What a d***** shame.  A Consummate Bummer for certain. Amen.

 As of February 1, 2014, Rosemont was purchased by a Florida based company named CNL.  We are managed by Prestige Care.  Since then, several changes have been made, moving Rosemont in a positive direction.  New and wonderful things are happening everyday at Prestige Senior Living Rosemont.

The established management element at Rosemont Senior Retirement & Assisted Living Community in Yelm, WA, have recently become more and more exposed for their intentional commission of numerous reprehensible acts of prevarication in order to attempt to maintain their established -- however steadily unraveling -- flimsy cover-up campaign, game plan, and attendant posture associated with continually trying to obfuscate their suspected contribution to the allowance of created conditions under which a former resident was made to suffer serious degrees of unnecessary neglect, abuse, and forms of abject negligence which resulted in her having to undergo emergency hospitalization, after which she very sadly suffered a subsequent and tragic demise.  I remain heartsick to have learned that upon being investigated by the Washington State DSHS, the Rosemont management tendency has always been to circle-the-wagons in desperation, run the corporate cover-up playbook by the numbers, right on down the line, no matter how silly and/or ridiculous, and no matter what the cost in humility, lost integrity, and soul-selling reputation. There have been so many deceptions, prevarications, and evasive tactics & maneuvers employed by Rosemont management to date while under government oversight, investigation, and overall scrutiny, that it truly makes one's head spin to the point of nauseous proportion.  In conclusion, my humble experiential advice to anyone who may be considering an assisted living community in which to assimilate your elderly loved one is simply this: do indeed save valuable time, money, energy, effort, disappointment, heartache, and anguish by making the active decision up-front to just steer clear of the Rosemont community.  By wisely avoiding the facility and electing to pass-it-by, check-it-off-your-list, and then duly leave it behind in-the-rear-view-mirror, you will be doing yourself and your loved one the best possible favor imaginable.  In the name of The Father and The Son ....... Amen.

UNFORTUNATE NEGLECTED ROSEMONT RESIDENT ULTIMATELY SUCCUMBS TO HEALTH COMPLICATIONS

*** UPDATE:   ROSEMONT STAFF CAREGIVER BREAKS-RANKS & SPILLS-THE-BEANS ….. JUST-IN-THE-NICK-OF-TIME !!!! *** 

Rosemont Assisted Living Community has been cited by Washington State DSHS for assisted-care residents' health & medical condition monitoring & reporting deficiencies. Failures & violations were discovered via unannounced DSHS investigation. My unfortunate innocent mother was a resident there until she was made to suffer a preventable emergency life-threatening medical incident primarily due to institutional negligence & abuse. This innocent elderly resident was allowed to helplessly linger in a listless, dehydrated, malnourished, unresponsive, ashen & pale, weakened & moribund state for several horrible days while steadily exsanguinating from slow internal bleeding, and thus she very nearly died in her room before her condition was finally identified as critical, serious, & emergent. At that point-of-panic, it came-to-pass that one Rosemont staff caregiver decided to break-ranks of her own volition and ended-up breaking-the-silence & spilling-the-beans by contacting one of the gravely-ill resident’s relatives and coming-clean about the severity of the resident’s condition and just what untoward events had transpired over the course of the preceding several harrowing days. The contacted relative immediately sprang-into-action and hurried over to Rosemont in order to facilitate needed & overdue emergency measures which resulted in the desperate dying resident being rushed to an E.R. (at long last!!!) where the dying resident’s life was saved in-just-the-nick-of-time …. followed closely by her emergency admission to the hospital where she subsequently died at a later date.

A Fitting Memorial Day Tribute To MAYETTA DONOVAN

DONOVAN FAMILY STATEMENT

Our Dearly Beloved MAYETTA DONOVAN passed-away on April 30, 2013 in her hospital bed at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA, with loving close family members at her side.  Mayetta had been a resident at Rosemont Senior Assisted Living Community, Yelm, WA, and suffered severe health complications there prior to  her having to be hospitalized.  Mayetta is survived by 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and also 5 great-grandchildren. She lived a good, healthy, Christian life and was rewarded by reaching the milestone of "nonagenarian" status -- quite a remarkable accomplishment indeed.  Mayetta was loved by many and will be forever greatly missed.  Rest In Peace, our precious & dear departed Mother.

As all the aforementioned Rosemont institution issues gather impetus, it becomes more clearly evident that said institution does-not-have-a-leg-to-stand-on regarding the pertinent matters at issue, so therefore they have become desperately rattled and have sadly allowed themselves to fall prey to the temptation of being unwisely compelled to retaliate via the predicatable and lowly avenue of having to resort to implementing a disgustingly unjust counter-attack method characterized by a no class, low grade, tacky, sleasy, dirty and nasty cheap-shot sniping approach of which they should be ashamed.  Moreover, it smacks of underhanded suspicion that in their rebuttal they have intentionally decided to remove the submission date of the e-mail correspondence that I sent -- and they have utilzed -- to serve as their first and primary rebuttal.  That kind of tactic is at once both lame and weak at best.

It turns-out that the correspondence at issue here was actually sent quite a while ago and was provided to Rosemont management as a declarative gesture of praise to given staff employees for their exhibition of good overall attitudes, fair & decent behavior, fine friendly demeanor, and commendable performance .... attributable to OTHER issues, circumstances, and attendant scenarios -- none of which were in any manner whatsoever related to the present set of gravely dire issues.  In-terms of setting-the-record-straight and removing all doubt, the foregoing statement will serve to suffice in a most appropriate fashion.

The foregoing sophomoric, desperate & feeble attempt at rebuttal offered by The Rosemont braintrust, does indeed represent a mean, snarky, sardonic, and patently underhanded form of displaced aggression and contempt against myself and my claims, and the Washington State DSHS as well, and does indeed serve to manifest it’s ugly self in the form of a nasty, unrepentant, and combative sabotaging retort attempt, which has been designed (poorly) to shift all focus, blame, responsibility, and overall accountabilty away from the Rosemont institution’s self-perceived intact fiduciary image and attendant hidden agendas -- thus it becomes a deceitful plan for them to utilize in advancing the sinister purpose of hopefully propagating a “cover-up” campaign which may serve to aid their cause to deflect, distract, evade, and distort reality in the eyes of intererested readers and potential investigators, and so therefore it all becomes sadly tanatmount to a “sour-grapes” & “poor loser” style of reprehensiblly repugnant vile poisonous mud-slinging of the nastiest and most heinous variety in order to carelessly (and unjustifiably) sully my reputation and valid claims against their despicably prevaricative administration.

I do stand by the statements I made regarding overall staff employee favorability -- as appears in the Rosemont rebuttal copy of an unrelated correspondence I sent quite some time ago via e-mail that was in reference to an entirely different matter and attendantly different set of circumstances altogether as well.  Athough I did convey praise in the aforementioned letter, I have since come to realize that even praiseworthy individuals in one aspect of endeavor, can perform in a lesser modality and degree in other aspects, and that we all are not immune from making mistakes ….. even in cases when the best of intentions may have been present.

In summary, I am compelled to state-for-the-record that it becomes my ever-increasing belief that  if  the typically praiseworthy staff employees are made to be seen as not being “on-the-chopping-block” with regard to responsibility for pronounced institutional flaws & failures which led to the ultimate untimely and preventable demise of my dear mother, Mayetta Donovan .... then it would naturally follow that the onus must shift to the Rosemont institutional corporate administrative and management elements as being the responsible parties against which to pursue and execute the deserved and proper disposition of accountability and justice in this most incontrovertible travesty of a tragedy.  

So I say this to all who may somehow encounter this untoward matter:  In my humble, considered, experiential, and educated opinion, the foregoing unspeakable tragedy of consummate paramount proportion and attendant compounding despair, has been given rise -- in an unnecessary and wrongfully-negligent fashion -- by certain functional elements of the culpable Rosemont institution …... and theirs is all disgrace.  Amen.

Dear Cherri,
 
I have become compelled to take this opportunity in order to formally praise the Rosemont house staff members.  Believe me when I tell you that I have noticed for quite some time running that the majority of general house staff members consistently exhibit many outstandingly sterling attributes and qualities -- e.g., cheerfulness, personality, good humor, dedication, concern, and pleasantly personable demeanor -- and moreover, I find them to be hard-working, energetic, friendly, responsive, capable, helpful, competent, focused, professional, responsible, naturally charming, and easy to get along with .... all of which are such truly wonderful things to be cherished and appreciated.  I do not know to what degree such appreciation ever becomes expressed, but I, for one, certainly do recognize the value of all their respective and collective efforts, and do continue to hold these feelings of gratitude dearly. Their jobs are demanding and they appear handle everything that comes their way with poise, grace, and confidence.
 
When I was asked about the aforementioned state-of-affairs last Friday afternoon by a social worker during the course of my mother's annual Medicaid evaluation and review conference, I disclosed the same information as has been presented herein, and I was very happy to provide that answer to the inquiry posed at that time.
 
Please feel free to pass-on this well-deserved praise to house staff personnel in whatever manner you deem appropriate.  You have my permission to publicly post this correspondence should you ever desire to do so.
