I have a very old dog ( 15 and that's 105 in human years).  She has bad hips and can only go down the front steps to use the bathroom.  My key was jammed in the lock and I couldn't get the door open.  I looked for the closest locksmith online. I called one Named "$29 Cary Locksmith" that had an address just around the corner from where I live.  My first clue that something was wrong should have been when they had no idea where my address was when I called and no familiararity of the area. I was just so desperate to let my dog out that I ignored that red flag.  My second clue should have been the unmarked vehicle.  The guy dismantled the lock in about 30 seconds, layed all of the innards on my oriental carpet in the foyer (oil??? dirt???)and told me that in addition to the $29 just for showing up it was another $95.00 to "unlock" the door.  He said that the lock needed to be replaced and so did the bottom one for an additional $185.00.  The stuff he put in doesn't even have a name brand on it. Then he added some made up number for tax for a total of $335 for about 30 minutes worth of crappy work.  When I got back to the office,  I did some investigating and found out that the advertised address that I thought was right around the corner was FAKE and that I probably could have bought a new door, locks and all for $3335.00. I also found that this SCAM is repeated all over the USA.  Learn from my ignorance and find a LOCAL, liscenced locksmith with a real brick and mortar store.  Not some shady rip-off company.

I have been reading the bad reports about Run Local Locksmith and wanted to add my two cents.  My next door neighbor was locked out of his house and called them to come out and unlock his door. Upon arrival the so called tech said that Schlage locks cannot be picked so it must be drilled.  He never even attempted to pick the lock.  He charged the person 425.00 to drill out the lock, 125.00 for a new kwikset lock that retails for around 25.00 and 65.00 install it. With tax it came to around 650.00.  
This is the worst type of over pricing I have ever seen.  This job if done by a professional locksmith should not have cost more than 150.00.  This job took place at 9am in the morning on a Monday.  They say they are fare.  I notice all the positive reports or rebuttals are being written by people who have no understanding of the English language.  Is that because they are being written by foreigners.  I wonder. Bad reports, good English, good reports, bad English. You be the judge. Do not use them.

The person responding to the original complaint is either the owner or the operator for local lockouts. I attempted to call her and she was VERY RUDE to me. She refused to listen to me. This company charged $180 for a lockout!! Ridiculous!!!

I see these rebuttals that are written in the positive way to make run local locksmith look good.  If you look closely at the language and the way it is written you can tell it is not written by anyone who knows the english language.  It is full of small grammatical errors, and the misuse of other words.  I gues it must have been written by the israels themselves.  Who are they trying to kid.  Go back to your country and rob from your own.  And to think we actually consider your country our ally.

Run Local Locksmith Scammed my son

My wife and I were in Kentucky when we received a call from our son in Michigan saying he had locked himself out of our house and needed to know what to do. We told him to call a locksmith. He went to the police station just down the street who in turn looked up locksmith and gave him the name of the first one that came up. RunLocal Locksmith.

When the locksmith got to our house he did not know how to use the master key set that he had and after about 45 minutes drilled out the core (which he told my son would cost an extra $90 but would do it if he gave him $30 in cash, which my son's friend gave him.)

After drilling out the core he did not re-key it and charged my son $169 for a total of $199.

I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Called these guys to re key three home depot locks. The add sounded good $15 show up charge $19 and up per lock. So I figured why not. The guy gets here looks at the lock and wants $60 each !! I said there home depot chepos not medico's he agrees and puts me on with his boss. He apologizes and offers to do it for $50 each !!! LOL!!! I told them no and they demanded the $15 show up charge. It's a classic example of the ol'bait and switch. I feel bad for anyone who calls these type guys in urgent need as they will squeeze every last dime out of you if they can. Just go to the local store in town you know they are bonded and legit. You wont save any money with these guys and you are not sure of the type person doing the locks(copies for thieves).

I was at my friend’s place, some 50 km away from my home, when it began to snow heavily and, being busy in the party, I forgot that my car is parked outside. When I came to the car to drive back home, I found that the ignition and the transponder keys of the switch of my car was not working. I found the run-local locksmith from my mobile and asked them to send a specialist for the same. I wondered whether any one would be coming in these weather conditions. To my pleasant surprise, he did turn up ion the next 30 minutes and changed the keys for me. Though I still could not go back home, I appreciate the sense of commitment of the locksmiths of the company.

I called Run Local Locksmith for unbolting the main door of the house. My husband had taken it with him by mistake on his week long trip. The other set was at his office whose key in turn was inside the house. I was quite amazed to find the locksmith ask me to prove that this is my house before he begins to open the locks. Usually, it is the locksmiths who are expected to show their IDs or licenses only. Thankfully, I had the car papers as well as the driving license which proved the same. After opening the lock and taking he apologized for inconvenience and narrated the reasons for asking the same. It is good to see such professionalism by the company for enhanced security. Other companies shall also emulate the same and the customers shall cooperate as well.

That a locksmith would be of such a vital help to me was not in my farthest imagination. I have a business of making the automotive parts and the best of access control systems are installed. Due to a short circuit a section caught fire with about 13 people trapped inside. The heavy duty doors went jammed. Coincidentally, a locksmith working in the next factory saw the blazes coming out and came running to our factory along with the owner of the other factory. He showed his ID card and sought permission to open it. In the next ten minutes, the door was opened, much to the relief of everyone. I called his company, Run Local Locksmith and informed and thanked them for the same. We gave him cash reward, not just his costs.

Being an electronic machine, its locks got struck up andjammed when there some electric fault in the mains supply. Even after the power supply was restored, the locks were dysfunctional. After making the initial checks and trying a few things, they were able to open it up after some half an hour of labour. I have neverseen the tools which he used for doing the job. I used the internet to find who can open its door without any damage. The first few calls to the service providers were either transferred to the automated voice recorders or were not responded at all, which I found quite strange.
