My water heaters needed repair at my East Stroudsburg home and I went on Angies List to get a Plumber/Electrical Company in that area. I assumed that the one that came up with good comments would be honest and so I told Russ Smeltz Plumbing/Electrical to do the work. After listtle discrepencies and lots of phone calls I got suspicious of Mr. Smeltz business tactics. He asked for $2400 then $2450 which I disregarded. then he would not give me the 10%off for seniors (he stated the discount is for the next job) I have the Ad and it does not say that 10% is for next job. But then Mr. Smeltz told me there was a hole in the heating vent and I needed to pay an extra $395. I aked him what did the work intail? he said some duct tape and zipties were to be installed. I told Mr. Smeltz not to do the work. I brought a friend to do the work and the zipties and duct tape cost under $10.00 which means he was going to make a profit of $385.00. Now I questioned a few neighbors near my home in East Stoudsburg about their new installation of two 40 Ballon Bradfor heaters and they told me they paid under 2,000 dollars. Mr. Smeltz charged me 2,450 for the same heaters. Mr. Smeltz is a gouger and he harassed me over the phone stating "if I don't pay the balance of $1,150 by February 15(tomorrow) He will remove the 2 water heaters. I will be forced to pay this amount because it would be a hazzardous environment if he removes the tanks. What a Scam Artist. I hope someone can help me to get this resolved.
