Ryan asked me for a reference site and 3 days later sent me an exact copy of the reference site with some of the words changed around and asked me to check it out. I responded "The website can have similarities but I need it to look very different from and reference site. I dont want to get sued for stealing". This was on March 1st. We exchanged a few more emails over the next 9 days and on March 11th Ryan sent me what he put together so far.
At this point we are 14 days out on the project (i was told 5 day turn around) and it looks like a child did the work. I was trying to be patient and I sent Ryan the following message:
"It seems like you just took the text I wrote up and put it below a picture on 5 different pages. [continued below]....
After emailing back and forth for a day or so and then coming to the conclusion that this guy probably works of templates and does not have the skill set or creative ability to design a custom website, I asked Ryan if I could have someone else design the website and he could do all of the coding. I asked for a discount and he denied. We're at March 12th at this point.
He agreed to do the coding only and from there we didnt speak until April 3. During the interim I had to pay someone to design the website. April 10th I sent Ryan the completed design. The website was laid out exactly how I wanted it, he just had to make a replica in html. He said that he would have it done in 5 days. While I was extremely displeased at this point, I still kept my composure. In my head, five days later, my website would be complete and thats all I wanted.
Instead Ryan sends me on the 15th of April, HIS VERSION of the design. Everything from the fonts to the spacing between all of the objects logos and pictures was way off. We email back and forth and I sent him list after list of corrections that the website needed. It was like talking to a child. I didnt understand how he kept overlooking these huge mistake. By April 17th I completely lost it and decided to hire someone else. They completed the entire project in less than 24 hours.
I have images of everything to back my claim up. I was taking side my side shots and sending them to Ryan with huge circles around the mistake. This guy is insanely hard to work with and in my opinion has no idea what he is doing. I incurred immense opportunity cost because of Ryans incompetence and I am extremely frustrated at this point. The last thing I wanted to do was waste more of my time writing this but I had to get the word out. If you would like to see images of the mistakes he made or the trail of emails I would be more than happy to share them with any of you.
Im sure at some point you will hear a rebuttal from him but I will not respond. If you need direction on putting your website together, send me a message and I will send you in the right direction so you dont make the mistake I made.
