After a few hiccups and lack-luster performances, I thought we could iron out the wrinkles and have a good, long-term partnership. Unfortunately, despite paying Jim in advance, I still have no anchors installed on two homes installed 11 & 12 months ago.  

Part of the service included installing anchors for $300 ($150 per home.)  A the time - he claimed - his anchor drive machine was broken and he promised that he would be back in a month or two.  That never happened.

The worst part is dozens (looking at my call log, it's actually over 50) phone calls and text messages where I was promised "next week" "next month" or "before thanksgiving when I'm in the area." Most calls, texts, emails and faxes went unanswered. I started once a week and patience & courtesy.  The more I waited for answers, the more frustrated I became. I just cannot deal with any contractor who doesn't have the courtesy to give me even a one sentence text message saying that he was delayed.

Ironically, Jim - the owner - ranted on his social networking page about some bad customer service he received from a tire place after paying in advance and that "I would fire any of my guys who treated my customers that way." Hypocrisy?

 I hired Jim loring owner of S&J mobile home transport from Dover foxcroft Me. To move a single wide trailer I purchased two 1/2 months ago . Jim was happy to supply services and ask for curtain info and documents and a $ 500 deposit . after sending the info and money right away the next day . I didn't hear from jim for two weeks and I tried calling and texting the whole time with no answer . once he answered he claim he hasn't received any money or tax release info on the home I bought ? I questioned him and said Jim you should have received that info last week I'm only a few hours away . after two days he contacted me and said he found both the deposit and tax info and he could haul my home between Sept 1 -8 th 2018 I was excited and spent close to $ 2500 just to get ready for my home landing on my property.

The 1 went by and Jim wouldn't answer calls or text ? The 8 day window went by with no home on my lot . once I got a hold of him again he said in so sorry I got stuck in mass and had truck trouble . being a CDL class 1 owner operator my self I said sorry to hear that Jim can we get my trailer between 16th 18th yes I'm sorry he said ill have it at your place on the 17th . I said great thank you Jim . well that week of the 17th came and went no home on my lot . I text jim 5 times on the 17th to see how he was making out . no answer again . I was upset with his services and said Jim winter is coming I've taken time off for your arrival and you can't call or text to tell me to explain what went wrong !!

Well once I got a hold of Jim he said I'm so sorry I just had the worst week ever !! I said wow really why ? I got stuck in mass and the dot pulled my truck over and put out of service . I said really I thought you was moving my place on the 17th but you didn't answer ? What's the deal Jim should I hire someone that can communicate and stop putting there clients on the back burner after I spent money and lots time for the trailer that never moved a inch . we had words and exchange rants and he said he would refund my deposit I said fine great sorry for nothing good luck . a hour later I got a text from jim apologizing and we talked a HR about trucks and had some laughs so I said Jim if can get my trailer to my lot by Oct 1 2018 ill give you one last chance to complete the job but I need commincaton and updates I'm very busy myself and I need to leave a 3 million dollar job to go to the bank and get your fee out . he assured me he would get the job done and have the home on my lot on the Oct 1 .

I felt like it's about time but I can get started winterizing during Oct . well the first came and went no calls no text and wouldn't answer my calls or text . I've since hired a new company out of Bangor Me. And my home will be here on Oct 11 . but I HAVEN'T got my deposit back as of yet and I feel Jim is playing me for a fool . Jim has no costumer relations skills he waste clients time . I was never once ignorant with him . but he screwed me and now I wait once again living in a fifthwheel Camper I had to move away from sewer so my holding tanks are full and I need to call and inconvenience a friend to move me back over to my slab and hook up sewer and drain my camper then move it back out of the way it a pain and I've been just about 2 months waiting for S&J to move my home .

I did everything he asked and was respectful and polite with jim just to have him blame all his miss haps on me ? I did nothing but ask how the move was going on all the dates he said he would move my place . this company is a nightmare and I would hate to see him wasting other people plans and time on lies and broken promises . note to Jim good luck hope the best for you and your family . communicat with your clients . do what you say your going to do . or explain the issues with your customers. I would have understood if you would only communicate with me and be up front with me in the first place . now your getting bad reviews and it's bad for business . sorry but you need a wake up call my friend .

An update:

On February 18, 2014 I received a check from Mr. Loring reimbursing me the $300 for the uncompleted portion of the work.  In addition, he apologized for failing to meet his promises.

I am considering this matter closed.

Jim Loring D/B/A S & J Transport has been kind enough to send me a refund check for the full amount of work not completed as of February 20, 2014.

I am satisfied with the outcome.
