FIRED ON SUSPCIOUS GROUNDS.
this nov I was terminated from sams club on a charge I believe is bogus . just this year in aug I had been asked to work full time as a door greeter since I and if I wouldn't mind going full time . I said sure why not I was working close to full time hrs anyway so i agreeded . From there things started to get a little funny . i was working had no problems until Nov 1, one of the cos's come up to me after I had my first break and asked me who I had worked with the previous sat I couldn't really remember . I went to lunch and was raking my brain about it then I realizeded we had been shorthanded that day so one of the cart associates worked on the entrance door and me on the exit door . I told them and asked them does this involve me in anyway they were very closemouthed about and didn't say anything to me until fri ,I came had my lunch and was about to go on my last break before I left for the day. cos dave and manager tina took me to the office and said they had lost $400 because a cashier had mistakingly rang up $50.00 ground flooring that had 40 had been bought of as $14.00 flleece sheets. I was shocked .then thats' when thy really socked it to me I had been on the exit door and hadn't caught it so they put it in the computer but because I had been coached in nov about meals and breaks they had to make it a D-day. So i was given that sat off with pay , they told me I had to watch myself or I wouldn't be fired. So that sun when I came in I made sure that I was on my q's and p's for the rest of the day I even said I would be the person to stay late . Well time was ticking by and it hit 7 I said to myself when is cos tom going to pull me off the door it;s getting past my time to leave . At 7.05 he took me off the door . That tues I was called in again and I had a talk with manager ken he told me I stayed to long and didn't make myself a meal exception this was a fireable offense but the talked to our new club manager matt about . Matt overturned that d-day and made the time switch over so i was still on d-day ,but for being a meal exception. I worked fri 5-9 until about 9:15 which wasn't late I worked times like that before with no problem . Next thing I know I come in sun and only after working maybe 20 min i was called in again they told me i was fired for going past my time and I hadn't tooken a lunch I was flabbergasted because I had specIfcallly ASKED A COS , cos dave do I need to take a lunch he told me I only needed a break .they then procedded to say tomikka your a good worker you can comne back in april . Well I was saddend but at the same time relived becauce I was going to leave in march 08 . After that I filed for unemployment on nov 6 , three days after i had been fired and they will not give me unemplyment it's almost the end of nov and the only check thye gave was my last paycheck., I find this astounding since I had been told by nummerous cos and managers and even members of what a fantastic worker i was ., because I never had anykind of problem with sams until I went full time I had been given a high five , caught thieves from trying to steal a computer and this is what I get I just want to know Do I have a viable claim to take this up with the labor union.
