Sahalie presents itself as an outdoorsy, cool place to purchase sports and outdoors items. I've ordered a few items from them (they are pricey). My last order was in September 2007. I order items online all the time. I receive my most recent credit card statement, and it has my online order, then two weeks later this company has the audacity to charge my account an additional $14.95 for some "rewards program." I called them, and they (so very conveniently) said it wasn't them -- They couldn't solve the problem because it's a separate company. Well, I never DEALT with a "separate company" when I ordered my merchandise through them! I told them to take care of this and to credit my account. Not only was their customer service representative totally unconcerned, but she was completely unhelpful and refused to assist me. In fact, she blamed ME for their company's fraudulent practices. See, when I placed my online order, I was asked, "Would you like to save 20% on your next order?" Who would NOT answer, "yes"??? But she explained that because I answered "yes," I was approving them to charge my account for a rewards program (why would I spend $14.95 to save more than likely LESS than that on my next order?)!!!!
Oh, by the way, the first person I talked to, who gave me another number to call and assured me someone would answer (they didn't) told me that "a number of people have contacted us about this."
What a sad, pathetic way to drum up a few extra bucks. As I said, I order things online all the time and have for years, and this is the first time a scam like this has been done.

#1 Consumer Comment

Internet Orders very vulnerable

AUTHOR: Voracious - (U.S.A.)

The "WRONG" comment refers to phone orders. Most of the complaints about this scam are for internet orders. I did not sign up for a stupid "$15 off next order" for $14.95 a month. This is partially my fault for not checking my credit card statements carefully, but it I would not have to check if Sahalie hadn't ripped me off.

There are many many complaints about this and it is frustrating because until this happened, I thought they were a fantastic company. What is really upsetting is that the complaints about this scam go back years, which means they don't care about fixing the problem because they are ripping so many people off.

#2 UPDATE Employee

Wrong

AUTHOR: Bobbg - (U.S.A.)

OK. For one thing, I know that not only do you have to explicitly say "Yes" on the phone, not once, but two times, then after that you have to enter the last 4 digits of your phone number... There is no possible way that they "tricked" you into it. Yes, we rebut, but unless we here you say YES and then 4 numbers being punched in on the phone, there is absolutely no way that you would be charged for it. The woman you spoke with on the phone was absolutely right in not being able to help you. She gave you the number to the correct department, and that's all she could do.
