Called Samsung last summer, was told white dots dim picture was the lamp. Ok I knew lamps would have to be replaced, waited till I could afford the $200.00 for a new lamp. Replaced the lamp and the picture is brighter, but the white dots are still on the screen. Called Samsung and was told they would do a One Time No Cost fix. That is is a defective chip. I was transferred, to another person that told me we will send a repair person and make sure you have the cash to pay them when they show up. Cash for what? We will only replace the chip you have to pay for the service call and labor. Now how is this a One Time NO COST FIX?   If I have to pay over $200.00 to get the chip replaced. I then looked online saw that a class action lawsuit had been filed and yes my TV was listed. I then called back and spoke to Bridget, and asked her why back in the summer when I first called I was told it was a lamp, and now I find this is a known defect with these TV. She had the Gall to say what do you mean Known Defect? I said as in more than two people know about a problem, or as in the case of the white dot problem, a class action lawsuit was filed. She told me she knew of no C/A lawsuit and as long as I pay for the service call and labor it would be a One Time no cost Fix to me. And that the company was doing this to be nice. I then asked ok so how come last year when I called I was told it was a lamp, when it was the Chip. Oh could that be because they where just a short time till the C/A Lawsuit ( the one Bridget said never happened) would only pay for the Total cost till Oct. 2011. Now they only have to send a new chip, the customer is now burdened with paying the service call and Labor. I then asked for a supervisor and was told at 4pm sorry they are all at lunch but they would call me back in 30 minutes, really everyone gone to lunch at 4pm. Took four days to get a call back and I was told be happy they will do a ONE TIME NO COST FIX as long as I paid for the service call and labor, by the way that cost more than the chip is retail.

#2 Consumer Comment

Beware of Samsung products.

AUTHOR: J. - (USA)

I'm in the same boat. My DLP tv has the same white dot issue as everyone else. Spoke with several people at Samsung without any success in getting them to stand behind their product. Unit was purchased in 2007 with a 5 year service plan. 4 months out of warranty the unit started developing white dots. Regardless, it is a known issue and Samsung has warranted many units within a specific serial number range, however they continue to say that my unit is out side of that range. Doesn't matter that I'm having the same issue as many others they refuse to support a known defect.

I've already filed a complaint with the federal trade commission and will continue to use social media to at least warn people of Samsung lack of product support when they have a very well know defect. If anyone is aware of anyone seeking support for a class action suit against Samsung. Please respond.  Best of luck with samsung products. Never again for me and my family.
